House Call  Pt. I ~ JC Short Story

Copyright 2002, Kelly Renée

JC sat nervously on the examining table.  Why me?  Why here of all places?  Why did I have to get sick in the middle of nowhere USA?  What kind of people name a crappy, middle of nowhere town Paradise Valley?  Maybe its like the whole Iceland/Greenland thing?  Oh no...  JC's conversation with himself was cut short by a sneeze.  He got up from the table and walked to the small pile of magazines that had a box of tissue lying on top of them.  He heard a small voice.

"Bless you, Mister."

JC jumped.  What the --?  He pulled the curtain back a little and peeked into the next examining room.  A little boy sat on the green table, kicking his feet.  He noticed JC and looked over and grinned.

"Hi!  I'm Noah!  What's your name?  Gee, you look strong!"  He bubbled excitedly.

JC smiled at the young boy's exuberance.  "I'm Josh!  It's nice to meet you Noah!"

Doctor Kelly Morgan walked into Examining Room C and took in the sight.  Her next patient was crouched on the floor, beside the magazines, peeking into the next room.  She cleared her throat and startled him.

"Mr. Chasez, I presume?"  She smiled.  JC quickly returned to his place on the table and nodded.  "I'm Dr. Morgan.  What seems to be the problem?"  Kelly asked, as she quickly took his temperature and began taking his blood pressure.  JC watched her delicate hands as she quickly took his pulse.  Just the mere touch of her fingertips on his wrist turned him on.  Whoa...easy there.  She's probably married with 37 chil dren...No, scratch that...Her body is too perfect to have 37 children...maybe one?  But she has to be married...I mean...geez, look at her.  She definitely married.  Wait?  No ring?  Hmm?  JC's thoughts were interrupted.

"Mr. Chasez?  Did you hear me?"  Kelly asked.

"Yes, I'm sorry.  I was thinking.  So, we stopped at this gas station about 75 miles back, and I've been..."  he sneezed.  "Excuse me, I've been sneezing ev--, ever..." He sneezed again.  "Ever since."

"Bless you, Josh."  Noah said through the curtain.

"Thanks Buddy!" JC replied.  Kelly smiled.

"This gas station, it wouldn't happen to be called Harry's QuikMart, would it?"  She questioned, while she scribbled his temperature, blood pressure, and pulse on a sheet of paper.

"Yeah!  It was dirty, and had pigs, cows, goats, and horses running around behind it!  It...it...it...ACHOO!  It stunk!"  JC said, appalled at what he just described.

"Bless you, Josh."  Noah responded promptly.

"Thanks Man!"  JC smiled.  What a sweet kid.

"Noah, Sweetheart, please be quiet until Dr. Kelly can finish here, and then we'll start your treatment, okay Baby?" she cooed to the small child through the curtain.

"And there was hay.  Mr. Chasez, it sounds to me like you have a severe case of allergies.  More than likely, it was the hay.  We get a lot of people who drive through Paradise Valley with sneezes after they come from Harry's."  Kelly looked up into his clear blue eyes.  She blushed.  He was very attractive.   Quickly, she spun around and got some supplies ready.

"So, Dr. Morgan, what do we do about this, I have to work tomorrow night, and can't be sneezing ever--....every..." He sneezed.  "Every thirty seconds."  JC asked, while wiping his nose with a tissue.

"Well," She began, still somewhat flustered.  "There's really only one quick cure.  And you'll be better within a few hours.  It's a shot."  Kelly said, as she opened an iodine wipe.

JC's eyes widened.  "A...a shot??  Is that the only way?  I...I..."  Chasez, you're behaving like a child...You're 25 years old...Shake it off.

"Is there something wrong, Mr. Chasez?"  Kelly questioned.

"YES!  There is...call me Josh, please."  He motioned for her to come closer.  Stepping forward, she leaned down.  "I...I'm petrified of needles...please be gentle."  Kelly stood up and smiled as she cleaned a small area on his bicep.

"Of course, Josh."

"Dr. Kelllllllllllllllly, is Josh afraid of needles?  Huh, huh, is he??"  Noah said, as he peeped through the curtain.  JC looked at Kelly with embarrassment, as if begging her not to tell.  She grinned.

"No Noah, Josh isn't afraid, but he's been driving me crazy coz he couldn't talk to you, so why don't you come in here and talk to him for a few minutes?"  Noah quickly climbed through the curtain and sat on the orange office stool; he began spinning.

"So, Josh, what did you wanna talk about?  Huh?" he said, pouting because Kelly had made him stop spinning.

"What grade are you in, Buddy?"  JC asked.

"I'm in first grade!  I have a girlfriend too!"  Noah bragged.  Kelly slipped beside JC and put a finger to her lips asking Noah to not tell.

"Really?"  He sneezed.  "Excuse me.  Wow!  What's her name?"  JC said, remembering his first grade 'girlfriend.'

"Bless you for the zillionth time, and her name is Leslie!  She's preeeeeeetty hott!  She has red hair and green eyes!"  Noah held JC's attention well, so much in fact that JC didn't even notice when Kelly gave him the injection.  Kelly stepped over to the sink and removed her gloves and washed her hands.  JC followed her with his eyes, wondering what she was doing.

"She sounds like a Babe, Little Man!  Even I don't have a girlfriend.  You must be a true playa for real, huh?"  Noah stared at him blankly, he wasn't exposed to that type of music, seeing as the only stations the radio picked up was a country and talk station.  "Sorry, Dude, I meant you're a real lady's man."  JC explained.  Noah grinned from ear to ear.  "So, Dr. Kelly, are you going to give me this shot, or make me sit here like a nervous wreck all day?"

"You're finished."  JC looked at the Star Wars bandaid on his arm in shock.  Kelly smiled warmly.  "Wow!  I didn't even feel it!"

"Dr. Kelly is magic!  Where's Tommy?  Show Josh Tommy!"  Noah squealed.

"No Sweetie, not right now.  I'm sure Josh is very ready to go get some rest.  Besides, Tommy doesn't want to come out right now, he's napping."  Kelly replied.

"Who's Tommy?" JC questioned.

"Tommy is a magic turtle who helps Kelly when she works with us kids!" Noah spurted.

Kelly thought silently, Today is definitely a good day for him.  She sighed.  "Josh, the clinic isn't open 24/7 and since the town is so small, I normally make house calls.  If you have any questions, or need anything after-hours, call this number." She said as she handed him a card.  They walked to the reception desk where Kelly walked around behind the counter and began figuring his charges.  Halfway through, she stopped.  She looked up at Noah, who was quick to question.

"Dr. Kelly, whatcha doin'?  You never charge me or Mommy..."

"That's right Sweetie, thank you for reminding me that I don't charge on Wednesdays."  She smiled at Josh, then at Noah.  "Noah, Sweetie, you go ahead and go back, I'll be there in a minute."  He nodded and ran back to the examining room he was in before.  "Josh, I hope everything goes well, and you feel better.  If you'll excuse me, I need to go give Noah his treatment, so I can have him home before his mother arrives."

"Well, alright.  Thanks Doc!"  JC flashed one of his brilliant smiles, and turned to walk out the door.   He was already formulating a plan.

House Call Pt. II ~ JC Short Story

"There ya go, Kiddo!  You're all done!  You were so good today!  You know what we do for good boys?"  Dr. Kelly asked Noah.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!!  Good boys get stickers and lollipops!"  He yelled excitedly.  She laughed and handed him a goodie bag.

"Come on, Sweetie.  Let's take you home."  She took his hand and led him to the car.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kelly Morgan unlocked the door to her small, white brick home.  It was barely past 5pm.  Home at last!  She checked her machine for any interesting messages.  There weren't any aside from the normal: "Hi Kelly, its Mom..." or "Hello Dr. Morgan, I need to change my appointment..."  She quickly made notes of the appointment changes, and phoned her mother.  After she finished talking, she stripped down and ran herself a warm bath.  Slipping underneath the blanket of peach scented bubbles, she closed h er eyes and thought of Josh.  He was amazingly handsome.  Its a shame he didn't need overnight care...KELLY!  Geez, you barely know this guy and you're already thinking...Screw him...I'd like to...Damn, I've been in this town too long...I need to get out more...
*RING, RING*
She quickly stepped out of the bath, wrapped a towel around herself and answered the phone.  "Hello?"  She was out of breath.
"I'm sorry, Dr. Morgan, but its JC--JOSH, I mean.  He told me to call you...We're at Molly O'Shannon's Boarding House.  You know where that is, right?"  Joey asked.  Kelly replied with yes and a click of the phone.
Quickly, she finished drying herself and jogged to her closet.  She grabbed the first outfit she saw--a navy silk tank top with spaghetti straps and khaki colored capris.  She picked up her cell phone and clipped the holder on her hip.  Leaving her hair down to dry, she threw her medicine bag in the passenger seat of her white Santa Fe.  She sped down the 2 lane highway to the gravel turn off that led to the boarding house.  Grabbing her bag, she ran up the stairs and went in without knocking.
"Where is he!?"  She yelled, to seemingly no one.  "Molly, its Dr. Morgan...Which room is Josh Chasez in?  Hurry!"  Just then, Joey came jogging down the stairs.
"Where is he?" She asked the man, who she remembered from his loud snoring at the clinic.
"C'mon, he's upstairs..."  Joey led her quickly to JC's room.
"Josh, hi...How are you feeling?"  She asked as she sat down on the side of his bed.  He was shirtless.  Damn!  Think Kelly...Concentrate...Don't stare!
"Dr. Morgan, hi!  I just started feeling sick all of a sudden.  It kind of started after I left the clinic."  JC replied.  Holy God!  It should be illegal to be her!  He thought as his eyes scanned the low neck of her tank.  Get hold of yourself, Man!
"Have you been running a fever?" Kelly asked, as she readied the thermometer.
"If I haven't, I am now."  JC spoke truthfully, as Kelly turned a deep shade of crimson.  She leaned forward and placed the thermometer in his mouth;  Her long, sun-highlighted brown hair fell in front of her face.  JC gently pushed it back behind her ear, as the thermometer beeped.
"You're hot...I mean, no...no...no temperature...I...I.." She stammered, searching for words.  JC laughed.  "You're not sick, are you?"  She asked seriously.
"No," He smiled.  "I just really wanted to see you again.  And you said call if I had any questions, I do:   Would you be my girlfriend?  And you also said if I needed anything, I do:  I need you."
Kelly blushed.  "Yes...I wanted to see you so bad, outside of the clinic."
"That's good to hear!"  He grinned.  "So, are you going to introduce me to Tommy the Turtle?"
She looked surprised.  "You remembered?"  JC nodded.  "Well, okay...Look right here," she pointed to her left shoulder, right beneath her collarbone.  "Josh, I would like you to meet Tommy the Turtle.  Do you see him?  He's tiny with little lime green spots on his dark green shell."  Kelly gasped.  "Josh, what are you doing?"
JC had leaned closer and brushed his lips over her shoulder.  "I'm talking to Tommy.  His ears are so small, I have to make sure he can hear me."  He explained, as he slid the straps of her tank down on her arms and continued to kiss her soft skin.
Kelly let her hands roam freely over his muscular back.  JC then pulled her into his lap.  He kissed her passionately, while removing her tank.  Laying her down on the other side of him, she reached up and hugged him closer to her.  He lightly nibbled on one of her breasts, while gently massaging the other with his large hand.  Her breath quickened as his lips and teeth tugged at her.
"Oh Josh!" She moaned.  Her cell phone let out a shrill ring.  She sighed, part pleasure from his touch, and part annoyance from the call.  She couldn't ignore her duties.  "Hello?"  She answered quickly.  "Mandy!?  What's wrong!?...How bad is Noah?...I'll be right there!"  She said, as she struggled to get her tank back on.  JC looked at her curiously.
"What's wrong with Noah?"
"Josh, he has leukemia.  I'm sorry I wish I could stay, but I have to go!"  She pulled his face to her's and kissed him.  "Maybe some other time?"
"May I come with you?" he asked quietly.  "Noah is such a sweet kid."  Kelly nodded and they were on their way to Mandy and Noah's.  When they arrived, JC stared in awe of the quaint 2 room shack, with white paint peeling from the outside walls, and a broken window.  It didn't look fit for dogs, much less people.
"Mandy!  I'm here!"  Kelly called as she entered.  JC followed close behind.
"Dr. Morgan!  He's bad!  He's vomitting and his fever is 106!!" Mandy, Noah's barely 20 year old mother spoke rapidly.
Kelly quickly began to check him.  "Josh, in my bag, there's an IV that is labeled 'Noah's Med'...Could please get that for me, and hurry!"
JC sprang to action.  Kelly sat on the edge of Noah's bed.  "Hey Baby!"  She said, as he finished spitting.  "How do we feel?"  She asked while moving his sandy hair away from his light brown eyes.
"Not good, Dr. Kelly..."  He said and began to cry.  Mandy left the room.  She couldn't stand to see him cry.  JC passed her on the way back to the room.
"Here Babe, is this it?"  JC asked.  "I'm gonna go talk to Mandy, she looks upset."
"Yes, that's it, thanks!"  She smiled.  He is too sweet!  "Okay Noah, good news...Tommy is awake!  Look!  Can you see him?"  Noah nodded.  "Alright, watch him closely."  She instructed, as she placed the IV in Noah's tiny arm.  "All done!  Now then, you get some rest, Sweetie!"
Kelly kissed his forehead.  He was so special to her.  Turning off the light, she walked into the other room.  JC had Mandy in an embrace as she cried.  She pulld back when she noticed Kelly and looked at her with questioning eyes.
"He's asleep, and his fever is beginning to go down.  You can go in if you want?"  Mandy jumped up and went by his bed.  Kelly sat beside JC.  "Hey Sexy!"  She gave a small grin to try and lighten the solemn look on JC's face.  He cracked a smile.
"Kel, I don't want you take this wrong, but...Do you have all the necessary equipment and funds  you would need to take better care of Noah?"
She thought a moment, "No, Mandy and Noah need to be in the city, near the children's hospital, but Mandy can't afford the move, nor the bills...and she doesn't have insurance."  JC shook his head.
"He's too good of a kid for this..." Standing up, he went outside to make some calls:  Airport...St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  JC smiled to himself, Everything's in order...  Kelly tiptoed behind him, and covered his eyes with her hands.  He jumped.  "Hey..."  As if he had been with her forever, he turned around and gave her a deep kiss.
"Mmmm...I need to surprise you more often."  She grinned, through the hardships of the night.  "Mandy said she'd call if things got worse again..."
They hopped into the Santa Fe and drove towards the boarding house.  Kelly felt bad, but she couldn't resist.
"Why are we stopping?" JC asked, as the car came to a halt on a deserted road.  Kelly snaked her hand over his leg and began gently massaging his package.  He let a low growl escape his lips.  Both thinking the same thing, they crawled in the back and let the seats down.
"Now, where were we?"  Kelly grinned, as JC began removing her clothes.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Kelly woke up looking into his beautiful blue eyes.  "Good morning." She said hoarsely.

JC laughed.  "Sounds like someone screamed last night,"  She blushed.  "Good morning, Baby Girl!"  He kissed her and began another round.

~*~ 11 Years Later ~*~

"It is my honor to present the graduating class of 2013."

"Congratulations Noah!!"  Noah spun around on his heels.  He would know those two voices anywhere.

"Dr. Kelly!  Josh!  He hugged them tightly.  "I didn't know if you guys were gonna make it with the tour and the twins on the way.  OH!  Hey!  Chels!  C'mere Sweetie!  Josh, Dr. Kelly -- This is my girlfriend of 4 years, Chelsea.  Chelsea, this is the couple that I owe my life to."

After 3 years of treatment at St. Jude's, Noah went into remission and has since been declared cancer free.

JC and Kelly started a more serious relationship after his allergy shot, and the twins are expected in September 2013.  They will be the younger siblings of Ashlyn Noelle Chasez and Jeremy Noah Chasez.

With JC and Kelly's help, Mandy was able to go to college, and is now teaching Special Education at E. E. Jeter Elementary School.
