"Home Recorded"

In this section you will find about every home recording made by Elvis.

During his stay in Germany, for his Army period, or at Graceland, our in Hollywood.

During the period from 1956 / 1958-1959 / 1960 / 1967 / 1973.

As far as I know, all the songs on this list exists, but some of them only the track listing was found.

"When The Saints Go Marching' In"

December 1956, Audubon Drive, Memphis, Tennessee.

(This tape, one of those recorded at Elvis's home, also captured thirty minutes of Elvis

shooting pool and watching TV, seemingly unaware that the tape recorded was still running.)

"I'm Beginning To Forget You"

"I Can't Help It" (If I'm Still in Love With You)

"Mona Lisa"

"Danny Boy"

"Loving You"

"I'm Beginning To Forget You" (a capella)

April 1959, Goethestrasse, Bad Nauheim, Germany.

(In spite of notations in the booklet to Platinum: A Life in Music, new information proves that these

recordings are not from 1961.)

"He Knows Just What I Need"

"Cool Water"

"His Hand in Mine"

"Return To Me"

"Are You Lonesome Tonight?"

"Stand By Me"

"Take My Hand, Precious Lord"

"Oh, Lonesome Me"

April 1959 or later, Goethestrasse, Bad Nauheim, Germany.

(As of this writing only track listing for this tape has yet been located; it is uncertain whether the tape itself is lost.

But the list reveals more of the material Elvis and his friends worked on during their time in Germany.)

"I Asked The Lord"

"Apron Strings"

"The Fool"

After April 1959, Goethestrasse, Bad Nauheim, Germany.

(Some of the songs on this list were released for the first time on Platinum, A Life in Music.

Some of the songs were used only in part or not at all, because of distortion on the original tape.)

"You'll Never Walk Alone" (incomplete)

"If I Loved You"

"The Lord's Prayer"

"I Wonder, I Wonder, I Wonder"

"An Evening Prayer" (incomplete)

"Make Believe"

"Beyond The Reef" (incomplete)

"When The Swallows Come Back To Capistrano"

"He"

"Hands Off"

"Lawdy Miss Clawdy" (incomplete)

Fall 1960, Monovale drive, Hollywood.

(The above list, contains only the track listing, that has yet come up, it is uncertain if the tape itself is lost.)

(Except for the last five listed, which were discovered on a acetate and released in part during the 1980s.,

all of the recordings below were part of a selection of tapes discovered at Graceland in 1996.

They all appear to have been made on Red West's tape recorder; as far as can be determined they are all circa 1966,

although West remembers recording them over a longer period of time.

It is also impossible to be sure about which songs were recorded together; the listings below are based

in part of aural evidence.
