APPA

Age: ??
Gender: Male
Eyes: Green
National Origin: Air Nomads - Southern Air Temple
Race: Flying bison

E-card Bio:
Appa is a flying bison, an ancient creature considered sacred by the Air Nation, whose people even borrowed their tattoo designs from the animal;s markings. Aang and Appa have something in common. As far as they know, they're both the last of their kind. Frozen for 100 years while the Fire Nation wages its war of conquest, they've awakened together to find their world drastically changed.

Likes: Soaring, barrel rolls
Dislikes: Unruly roders, fog landings
Little-Known Fact: The Air Nomads first learned Airbending from flying bison like Appa

World of Avatar Bio:
Appa is Aang's spirit guide - a creature who remains at the Avatar's side during the course of his or her life as friend, companion, guide, and helping hand. When tired, Appa doesn't fly but would rather walk or swim if he's not crashed out on the ground and resting. When he does fly, he responds to the command "Yip, yip", and rises at a gentle slope.

Appa is covered in fur all around except for his nose, around his eyes, his belly, and his feet. The successive arrow markings on his back are natural. His actual weight is unknown but he's been called a "ten-ton magical bison" on numerous occasions. Appa loves to eat straw and grass and has six legs.

Equipment:
The only equipment Appa has is a big saddle on his back to carry passengers and a string attached to his horns, acting as a harness.

Moves:
Appa can dive or rise at a fairly steep angle, and can fly at a fast rate if necessary [source: Avatar Roku]. Usually, he's just gliding along at a steady rate.

DRAGON

Origin: Fire Nation, I believe
Appearances:
Avatar Roku (ep. 8)

World of Avatar Bio:
The only dragon that has appeared, so far, is Avatar Roku's spirit guide but infering from the decoration in Prince Zuko's quarters, I believe there are more dragons in the Avatar world and that they originate in the Fire Nation. Their color is unknown but, again, based on the image at Zuko's cabin, they are probably red in color.

The dragon is the classic Chinese version much like a snake: sleak, long, four small limbs with claws, a bushy paint-brush-like tail, and long whiskers above the mouth. From the decoration in Avatar Roku's Fire Temple, the dragon held a special place in the heart of the previous Avatar. For example, dragons can be seen circling the tall columns outside the sanctuary. It is unknown, for now, if dragons are also a common decoration in the average Fire Nation household.

FLYING BISON

Origin: Air Nation
Race:
Bison
Appearances:
The Southern Air Temple (ep. 3)

World of Avatar Bio:
The flying bison are a species that are well-revered by the Air Nomads. They were actually the ones that inspired many of the air bending moves that Airbenders use not to mention inspiring the arrow tattoo's that all Airbender monks have. Before the war, flying bison were common-place in the Air Nation regions but their numbers have dwindled - and it is believed that they are extinct except for one - Aang's spirit guide, Appa.

Flying bison sport a series of arrow marks from tail-end to the top of their head and easily weigh in at least a ton when fully grown. They love to eat straw and grass - or anything leafy, at least. When they sneeze, they emit a greenish-gooey substance that's rather disgusting if you're in the receiving end.

Aside from their humongous tail, and two horns on their head, the flying bison has six legs.

Fighting Moves:
So far, the only move that a Komodo Rhino's been seen to do is knock an on-coming enemy with it's tail. Otherwise, by the looks of the horns and tusks - it can also charge someone and do some serious damage. If it can rear back on it's hind-quarters, it can probably hurt someone with it's fore-claws.
