Age: ??
Gender: Male
Eyes: Green
National Origin: Air Nomads - Southern Air Temple
Race: Flying bison
E-card Bio:
Appa is a flying bison, an ancient creature considered sacred by the Air Nation,
whose people even borrowed their tattoo designs from the animal;s markings.
Aang and Appa have something in common. As far as they know, they're both
the last of their kind. Frozen for 100 years while the Fire Nation wages its
war of conquest, they've awakened together to find their world drastically
changed.
Likes: Soaring, barrel rolls
Dislikes: Unruly roders, fog landings
Little-Known Fact: The Air Nomads first learned Airbending
from flying bison like Appa
World of Avatar Bio:
Appa is Aang's spirit guide - a creature who remains at the Avatar's side
during the course of his or her life as friend, companion, guide, and helping
hand. When tired, Appa doesn't fly but would rather walk or swim if he's not
crashed out on the ground and resting. When he does fly, he responds to the
command "Yip, yip", and rises at a gentle slope.
Appa is covered in fur all around except for his nose, around his eyes, his belly, and his feet. The successive arrow markings on his back are natural. His actual weight is unknown but he's been called a "ten-ton magical bison" on numerous occasions. Appa loves to eat straw and grass and has six legs.
Equipment:
The only equipment Appa has is a big saddle on his back to carry passengers
and a string attached to his horns, acting as a harness.
Moves:
Appa can dive or rise at a fairly steep angle, and can fly at a fast rate
if necessary [source: Avatar Roku]. Usually, he's just gliding along
at a steady rate.
Name Meaning: The "bearded" part of their name
comes from the beards that these cats have
Origin: Earth Kingdom (?)
Appearances: King of Omashu (ep. 5)
World of Avatar Bio:
The bearded cat is much like the cats in our world with a slight twist: it
has a beard, hence it's name. It's beard is comprised of two long whisker-like
beards above it's mouth and a pointed beard beneath it's lower lip. The bearded
cat that appeared in the show was a brownish-gray color though there may be
other varieties of color.
Origin: Earth Kingdom
Appearances: The Great Divide(ep. 11)
Race: Spider
World of Avatar Bio:
The Canyon Crawler is a giant spider that lives in a massive canyon near Ba
Xing Ce called "The Great Divide". They live in the nooks and crannies
of the canyon and only emerges for food. If only one should appear, initially,
a whole horde will come afterwards.
Origin: Fire Nation, I believe
Appearances: Avatar Roku (ep. 8)
World of Avatar Bio:
The only dragon that has appeared, so far, is Avatar Roku's spirit guide but
infering from the decoration in Prince Zuko's quarters, I believe there are
more dragons in the Avatar world and that they originate in the Fire Nation.
Their color is unknown but, again, based on the image at Zuko's cabin, they
are probably red in color.
The dragon is the classic Chinese version much like a snake: sleak, long, four small limbs with claws, a bushy paint-brush-like tail, and long whiskers above the mouth. From the decoration in Avatar Roku's Fire Temple, the dragon held a special place in the heart of the previous Avatar. For example, dragons can be seen circling the tall columns outside the sanctuary. It is unknown, for now, if dragons are also a common decoration in the average Fire Nation household.
Origin: Earth Kingdom (?)
Appearances: The Storm (ep. 12)
World of Avatar Bio:
The Avatar ducks bear a striking resemblence to our ducks from their plumage
to their "V" flight pattern and their honks.
Name Meaning: Elephant refers to their gigantic size which
looks to be about the size of a whale, and koi is a type of carp called in
Japanese
Origin: Earth Nation (?)
Appearances: Warriors of Kyoshi (ep. 4)
World of Avatar Bio:
Elephant koi are basically gigantic koi fishes. And when I say "gigantic",
I mean GIGANTIC! They swim in groups and have the same coloring as the small
koi's we have in our world: orange and white. It is unkown if there is also
black koi and any pure white ones. So far, it's unknown if the general populace
eats Elephant Koi but one thing is for sure: the Unagi at the Kyoshi Island
bay loves eating Elepahtn Koi. And Aang loves to ride them a la wind-surfing
style!
Name Meaning: Most likely named due to the way his ears
flop when running and possibly how his tongue flops as well.
Age: ??
Gender: Male
Eyes: Green
National Origin: Earth Kingdom - City of Omashu
Race: Gorilla-Goat-Dog
Appearances: King of Omashu (ep. 4)
E-card Bio:
The King of Omashu challenges Aang to complete three dangerous tasks - one
of which is to retrive his beloved pet, Flopsie. Sounds like a cinch, until
Aang gets a load of this monstrosity. But you know what they say, you can't
judge a one-ton gorilla/goat beast by it's cover!
Likes: Roaring
Dislikes: Really fast rabbits
Little-Known Fact: Loves to have his belly scratched
World of Avatar Bio:
Flopsie, at first glance is rather intimidating especially when it's chasing
you. It's rather agile and his tongue wags and his ears flop when running.
Flopsie is well trained and friendly to the point that he will greet you (i.e.
slobber you) when you call him. He loves his owner, King Bumi, and answer
to his whistle very quickly.
Origin: Air Nation
Race: Bison
Appearances: The Southern Air Temple (ep. 3)
World of Avatar Bio:
The flying bison are a species that are well-revered by the Air Nomads. They
were actually the ones that inspired many of the air bending moves that Airbenders
use not to mention inspiring the arrow tattoo's that all Airbender monks have.
Before the war, flying bison were common-place in the Air Nation regions but
their numbers have dwindled - and it is believed that they are extinct except
for one - Aang's spirit guide, Appa.
Flying bison sport a series of arrow marks from tail-end to the top of their head and easily weigh in at least a ton when fully grown. They love to eat straw and grass - or anything leafy, at least. When they sneeze, they emit a greenish-gooey substance that's rather disgusting if you're in the receiving end.
Aside from their humongous tail, and two horns on their head, the flying bison has six legs.
Name Meaning: Hei means grace (Korean), but most likely
it means white and Bai means black (Cantonese).
Origin: Earth Nation
Race: Panda (Bear)
Appearances: The Spirit World (ep. 7)
World of Avatar Bio:
The Hei Bai is a black and white creature which is actually a giant panda.
When in spirit form, it looks very alien, can move with quicked speed, and
can decimate things by spitting out a blue energy beam.

World of Avatar Bio:
Hob-monkey's are a variation of monkey. Much like the monkey's of our world,

"Hob-Monkey" in the Avatar world is much like saying "Oh my
gosh" or "Drat" in our world.
Name Meaning: Komodo originates from "Komodo Dragon"
which are overly large lizards. Rhino's come from the gray-horned beasts.
National Origin: Fire Nation
Race: Lizard Rhino
E-card Bio:
Komodo Rhinos are teh Fire Nation's beasts of burden, and they've got attitudes
to match their occupation. Trained to pull Fire Nation war chariots into battle
and haul supplies from one conquest to the next, these half rhino/half lizard
monstrosities are as ill-tempered and aggressive as their masters.
Likes: Rampaging
Dislikes: Not rampaging
Little-Known Fact: The Komodo Rhino's hide is as tough as
steel
World of Avatar Bio:
Komodo Rhinos are the choice of transportation by Prince Zuko and his soldiers
when traveling by land. They are huge creatures that are quite fearsome in
looks with a long tusk and two horns on its head and a thick tail and sharp
claws to match.
Fighting Moves:
So far, the only move that a Komodo Rhino's been seen to do is knock an on-coming
enemy with it's tail. Otherwise, by the looks of the horns and tusks - it
can also charge someone and do some serious damage. If it can rear back on
it's hind-quarters, it can probably hurt someone with it's fore-claws.
Origin: Unknown
Race: Mouse
Appearances: The Spirit World (ep. 7)
World of Avatar Bio:
The meadow vole is a tiny, light-colored mouse.
Name Meaning: peach (Japanese) after the peach Momo swipes

of a trouble maker.
To Aang, Momo is a symbol that his people are still alive, as winged-lemurs were once a favorite pet of Air Nomad kids. Aang devotes much of his time and energy to training and playing with Momo, and Katara often joins in. Sokka, on teh other hand, just thinks the flying creature is creepy and annoying.
E-card Bio:
Momo is Aang's faithful pet, but he's so smart and trainable he's more like
a friend. A friend who can sense danger from miles away with his high-powered
sense of smell. Momo's a bit of a troublemaker which explains why Sokka's
usually annoyed with him. But for Aang, Momo's a remindr that the past is
still alive. Winged-lemurs were once the favorite pets of all Air Nomad kids.

These are a type of mouse seen in the ruined Fire Nation warship in the South
Pole.
Origin: Earth Kingdom
Race: Ostrich, Chicken
Appearances: The Spirit World (ep. 7)
World of Avatar Bio:
For lack of a better name, and the birds large size, I have since dubbed these
crossbreads of ostrich and chicken as just plain "Ostrich". They
look to be about the size of a horse with two people being able to ride them
back-to-back. Much like a horse, they are decked out in armor from their head,
breastplate, and their saddles and are controlled by a harness. They can also
get spooked such as sudden bursts of flame and will scatter.
Origin: South and North Pole
Race: Penguin

A beautiful bird with red plumage that has two long feathers on it's tail

This bird is a mix of reptile and parrot which doesn't seem to imitate human
speech. It can grasp any surface and can maneuver quite well in flight.

With the birth of the Avatar in each cycle, an appropriate creature from that

Avatar as a friend, companion, and guide in life and in death.

The people of Kyoshi Island know better than to swim in the bay where the
Unagi lives. This giant eels is a dnagerous, voracious predator who feeds
on teh Elephant Koi who also populate the bay. Of course, like pretty much
any animal he comes across, Aang figures the Unagi can be tamed... and ridden...
Likes: Elephant Koi (for dinner)
Dislikes: People
Little-Known Fact: Unagi has the ability to spit water at
deadly velocity
World of Avatar Bio:
The Unagi is a giant eel that resides in the bay on Kyoshi Island. It is not
known how long it has remained there specifically, but it is well known the
in the village of Kyoshi and is used as an executioner of sorts to rid Kyoshi
Island of miscreants on the island. It's probably used as a threat to mischievous
kids much like the "Boogey Man" in our time except theirs is real.
