The Death After Dark Chapter 1 : School�s out for Cass Cassandra lay on her bed reading a book. It was one of her favourites that she�s been reading for a while. She flipped the pages. Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door. It was in the afternoon just after 3:30pm. �who�s this?� The 16 year old girl called. �Cass it�s only me� came the reply. She could tell it was her friend Jaime. They both go to the same school. And have nearly all the classes together. But that day, Cassandra had the cold so she didn�t go to school, which is uncommon because she hardly ever gets sick. She got up from her bed and walked to the door. Jaime came in with her school bag big and full. �so how are you feeling? I hope you�re better� Jaime said. �much better� she replied �so what kind of FUN did I miss?� Cassandra said jokingly, knowing that Jaime hated school more than she did. �oh yeah besides our science teacher talked non-stop for 2 hours about gravity and we had to copy a million words on the board,� Jaime said giving her a push. �Also we were made to clean up all the rubbish in the yard, you�re so lucky you didn�t come� She groaned. Cassandra giggled. �sounds like fun� She said. Jaime gave her a �you�re dead but I�m just kidding� look. �our teacher gave us an assignment. This one is with pairs. So I�m doing it with you� Jaime said pulling her bag towards her. �really?� Cassandra asked in disbelief. It was start of year 11 and they had an assignment on the second week of school. It was definitely hard doing so much work. �yeah its gotta be done in 3 weeks time.� Jaime said. �Phew� Cass thought, almost relieved. 3 weeks was plenty of time. �I thought it was tomorrow!!� Jaime looked at her �uh tomorrow is Saturday� She laughed. �oops I must be very sick then� Cassandra said feeling her forehead making sure she didn�t have a high temperature. �don�t worry you�re not THAT sick� Jaime joked. After a while, they sat on the chair. �so you wanna get started on our work so we don�t have to do too much in the end?� Jaime asked. �sure, why not. But what�s the assignment about?� �gravity� �uh� Cassandra groaned. Science was the one subject she hated. �I can never get anything on science� she said annoyed. �tell me about it, I spent half lunch time asking the teacher what it all meant� Jaime said flipping through the pages. �we gotta write a report, then draw pictures, and ...� Jaime read all the sheets. �alright, so what are you better at? Research or drawing� �research!! Definitely research. I hate drawing.� Jaime replied. �okay I�ll draw. You go on the net and find out some information. Then we�ll write out it together� So they began to work. After 2 hours, they finally got something out of all the work. Jaime just logged off the computer. �I got 30 pages of info on the web. What did you draw?� She asked walking to Cass. �ah here it is� she said handing the piece of paper to Jaime. �that is good!!!� she exclaimed. �I have to colour it. Just pick out the most important bits off the computer.� ***** The girls were working so hard they hadn�t even heard the door open. It was Cassandra�s mom. She had just came back from work and bought some food from the shops. �oh hi, its Jaime?� she said smiling. �yep, how are you?� Jaime stood up stretching. She and Cassandra had been working for two hours without stopping. �you two are doing assignments? How did it go?� Cass� mom asked. �its great mom,� Cassandra said getting up too. �its pretty late, I better get home now.� Jaime said packing up her stuff. It was already 7:30pm. They hadn�t known the time had gone so fast. �you can stay here for dinner if you want� Cassandra said. Jaime�s house was just down the road. She comes to visit Cass everyday but she doesn�t like Cass to go to her house because her dad is a rough guy and frequently scared them. Jaime also had 3 brothers who are older. They always use everything in the house. So Jaime loved visiting Cassandra�s house. �are you sure? I better call home� She said. After a talk on the phone, her face looked happy. �yes I can stay till whenever I want to go back, which means it can be tomorrow morning!!!!!� she said excitedly. Her mom was nice to her but her dad was always drunk. Cassandra�s mom made food for them. After dinner, she and Jaime went her back yard. �it�s a good night to look at the sky� Jaime asked. �I agree�everything�s just so quiet� Cass replied. They sat outside for a while. Now Cass didn�t worry about the assignment because she and Jaime had already done half of it. They always liked to do their work early rather than late. �are you going to take Monday off too?� Jaime asked. �no I�m not, I�ll come� Cass said. �I wouldn�t want to leave you alone again� she said giving her a pat on the back. �thanks. Its been really boring without you� ***** It was about midnight when the girls finally decided to go to bed. �I love sleeping over your house� Jaime said happily walking into Cass� room holding a blanket and a soft mattress. �yeah me too. I like it when you come over� They giggled for a while before tucking themselves in bed and closing their eyes. �Cass, you�re asleep yet?� Jaime asked. �not yet,� �I want to tell you something� Jaime said sitting up. �what is it?� Cass asked. �its about my family� Jaime said nervously. �Well I�ve been sneaking into mom�s room, and I found some paper. I read it and it has plans to go somewhere. I don�t know but I think she�s trying to run away from dad� �well if she does leave you here then you can stay with me.� Cass said. �thanks you�re making me feel better already� Jaime signed. �okay we�ll talk in the morning. Get some sleep� Cassandra said flicking off the light. Soon, after 3 minutes the two girls are fast asleep. Cassandra and Jaime woke up with a start. It was in the morning and the sun had shone on their window. �I gotta go home now� Jaime said getting dressed. �okay come around later� Jaime grabbed her bag and waved goodbye. �I�ll be over this afternoon� She called. Cassandra walked back to her room thinking about the dream. Who was that shadow and why did it say it wasn�t a dream? After a while, she forgot about it. �Cassandra where�s your friend?� a voice behind her said. �ah� Cass yelled. It was her mom. �oh honey sorry I scared you.� She said. �that�s ok. Uh Jaime had to rush home. I think it�s her family� Cassandra replied. After her mom left, Cass opened up her book to where she was and began reading again. By the time she had finished, Jaime came over again. �mom gave me some money, do you want to go to the shops in town?� Jaime asked. �why not?� Cassandra replied and ran downstairs. She got dressed and took her purse and bag before the two of them went out the door. ***** Chapter 2 : New arrival It was Monday morning, Cassandra and Jaime rode the bus to school. In their morning class, where everyone in the same year is together, Cass and Jaime sat by the far end. �I think she�s new� Cassandra said pointing at a girl alone. �she looks really lonely, we should go and talk to her� Jaime said. They came over to the new girl �hi, we�re Cassandra and Jaime� They introduced. �I�m Michelle. I just came today� She replied shyly. They looked at each other. �would you like to join us?� Jaime asked kindly. Michelle smiled. �sure� She said. �if you can�t find us, then go to that tree� Cassandra said pointing at a tree out the window. �We always meet there if we don�t find each other� Jaime finished her sentence. Michelle nodded. �so do you know what subjects you have yet?� Jaime asked Michelle. �yes I got science� She said. �oh we got that too� and we�re doing an assignment. You should join us� Cass said. Michelle nodded. She had been pretty lucky to make friends on the first day of school. �So where do you live?� Michelle asked. �our house is close, we live two blocks down but we catch the bus� Cassandra replied. �what about you? �we are living near the city now, but we�ll be moving to a house soon� Michelle said. �wow do you know where?� �not yet� Michelle answered. The class finally ended. The girls walked outside. �we gotta meet up with the guys� Jaime said. �oh here comes Andy� Cass said. �hey Andy� They said. He was a close friend to them as well. �this is Michelle. She�s new here� Cassandra introduced them. �great to meet you� Andy said giving her a wink. �and have you even seen Jack today?� Andy asked the girls. �Jack�s the other friend� Jaime told Michelle. They exchanged looks. �nope I haven�t seen him at school� �he must be at home then� Andy said. �I�ll see you later� He waved at them and hurried off to the next subject. �So where do we go?� Michelle asked them. �just follow us, we all have science so we go to the same place� Cass said leading the way along with Jaime and Michelle. They came to the door of the science lab. �oh my god is that our teacher?� Michelle asked looking at a man at the age about 45 and have a beard. Looking worse than ever. �yeah he is, the worst part is that he talks absolutely non-stop and he makes us copy the board after he do 2 hours of talking. We normally stay behind having to copy the work he set out, and this is not fun at all� �I hate him already� Michelle said �welcome to the club� Cassandra replied. They all laughed. �So what�s all these giggling about� He called. �Cassandra, do you want to share something with the class?� He grumbled. �No sir� She replied. �Then don�t laugh� He said. �how annoying can he be?� Michelle whispered. �very� everyone who heard her said it. After hearing him lecture for two lessons, everyone was finally happy to get out of that class. �ohhh can it ever get worse than this?� Michelle asked. �its bad�� They arrived at their spots. �wanna come over our house to do the assignment this afternoon?� Cass asked. �yes sure� Michelle said. Jaime and Cassandra both told her where they lived. They even drew her a map. �this afternoon just come and meet us by the trees, we�ll take you there� Cass said. �I�ll call my mom now and tell her� Michelle said taking her mobile out. ***** In the afternoon, Michelle met them, and they started walking to the bus stop. �Do you want to rent out a movie tonight so we could watch it?� Cass asked. �yeah sure, mom said I can stay late and just ring her when I get to your place. She doesn�t mind if I�m away� Michelle said. �me too� �so okay what movie should we borrow?� Cassandra asked. �a scary one. I want to watch scary movies.� Jaime said. �Oooh me too� Michelle said. �I have a passion for horror films� They walked into the store and rent two really scary movies out. �just don�t say you can�t sleep after watching it.� Cass warned. �we�ll try� they said together. �where�s your house?� Michelle asked totally lost. �just around the corner� they replied. When they arrived, Jaime had to go home first and get her school bag out and bring fresh clothes and food. �I�ll be back in 20 minutes� She said rushing off. �okay� Michelle looked around the house. �wow you have a nice place. You�re so lucky� Michelle said. �I know, feel welcome to come over any time� �oh first I gotta make a phone call� Michelle grabbed her phone out and called her mom again telling her that she�s at Cassandra�s house. On the phone: �mom I got there safe, I might stay overnight with Jaime so I�ll go straight to school tomorrow. I�ll call tomorrow morning. �sure, just make sure you call� She hanged up. Cass opened up the cupboard. �what some food?� �yeah that would be great� They waited for Jaime to return. After a while Jaime returned with bad news. �I�m sorry Cass, I can�t stay here. I have to go straight back home, or my dad will kill me. He said that if I don�t get back I�m in big trouble.� �that�s so unfair, you shouldn�t go� Michelle said. �I know but there�s nothing I can do� �no you shouldn�t let him control your life,� Cass said. Jaime looked unsure, but not knowing what to do. Michelle stared at her. �is she always like that?� �Well when it comes to her father yes!!� Cass replied. �So maybe we�ll change the subject. �lets watch a movie or something. **** Chapter 3: Strange dreams It was on a Saturday night when it happened. Cassandra had just fallen asleep when she saw a pitch blackness around her. �hello?� She tried to say, but no words came out. She turned around and found a group of people, Michelle just came around and Jaime did too. �Ahh watch out!� Jaime cried before falling deeper and deeper into the darkness. �where are we?� Jaime asked when they finally stoped falling. �not sure� When Cass saw what lied on the ground, she almost screamed, but she couldn�t because she was too shocked and scared. It was a dead body lying on the dirt. Suddenly the place began to swirl and move. It moved faster and faster like a roller coaster, and they were moving so fast that they thought they were going to fall off. Cass woke up just before she almost fell off. It had felt so real that she could still feel the dizziness. She called up Jaime the first thing. �Did you have a strange dream about dark?� Cass asked. �no, why?� She asked. �Because I did and we were all in it. We dropped on the darkness and then we saw..um.. we�� that dead body had made Cass sick just thinking about it. �what did you see?� �a dead body� �ewww� �maybe we should tell Michelle about it, and she might had it� Jaime suggested. That�s exactly what Cass did. She said goodbye to Jaime and called straight to Michelle. But Michelle didn�t have the dreams. �I had a great night� Michelle said, �What did you dream about? Cass began to describe the dream. �its so real, I mean I can feel everything, even when I woke up I thought I was still spinning because of the roller coaster.� �it sounds so weird, I never knew any one that had realistic dreams before� Michelle said. On Sunday night, Cass was in bed reading her book. Soon all the reading had made her very tired and before she knew it, she dozed off. But something woke her. It was someone coming towards her. She opened her eyes, there stood a person�s shadow. �Cassandra I must warn you, Cassandra I must warn you, this is real, Cassandra I must warn you� the voice said. �you have to watch out� it kept going. Cass couldn�t see who that was. �Cass, be careful, Cass please�be careful.� The voice said. �who are you?� �Cassandra, you know me, I�m from your school, and we�re good friends� Cass looked at the shadows. �Jack is that you?� �yes, and I have to tell you, you�re in danger, you�re in danger� he said. �what? Why?� Cass asked but he was gone. Cassandra had still been dreaming. �oh my god I think something happened to Jack� Cass said to herself. �Mom can I please make a phone call?� Cass said rushing outside Her mom was busy on the net. �Cassandra you can talk to your friends tomorrow, I�m way too busy� �its really really important.� �no this is more� Cassandra didn�t want to argue more. She just wished tomorrow came quickly. She wanted to call Jack to see if he�s okay. Chapter 4: The truth to the death Cass and Jamie arrived at school on Monday. Two days after Cassandra�s strange dreams. But when they arrived they saw a lot of police and investigators there. �what�s going on?� Cass asked when she saw Andy. He was there a lot earlier and found out what happened. �its Jack� Andy said sadly. �what? Jack is he�� Cass started.. �dead� �how???????????� Cassandra couldn�t believe it, she was too terrified to say anything. �Well I think Jack was at the school on Saturday night somehow and something pulled him deep under ground.� One of the investigators said. �but the strangest thing is when we dug him up we checked fingerprints. There�s none. At all. He was all alone and somehow got underground.� Another said. Now that gave Cass the creeps even more, first she has dreams about reality, then something like this happen. What would be next? Michelle ran over to Cass when she spotted her. �hey didn�t you say you had a dream about something like that?� Michelle asked. �yes�I-I did�and�its true.� Cass said barely able to stand still. �its okay, we�ll go and sit over there� Jaime said pulling her to the chairs. One police over heard them. �Did you girls say you had a dream? What was that about?� He started asking. �excuse me, but she�s not in the talking mood now� Jaime said. �this is very important, we�re trying to find out who killed him� �um�I just had a dream, and it was this time, Saturday night 11:49pm and I saw someone dead. The following night he came to me and told me it was true that he warned me and I�m in danger� Cass said shakily. One of the investigators pulled him away. �I don�t think you should talk to a young girl, she must be very scared and you really believe she can dream about it?� He whispered into the police� ear. �but its better than nothing� �she�s too scared. Can you see her face?� �SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS� a voice called over the loudspeaker. Everyone was scared about the death, they were glad they didn�t have to go to school, groups and groups ran through the gate and back home. ***** While Cass, Jaime and Michelle walked on the streets, they started feeling more scared than ever. �what if we died too� Jaime said. �don�t worry we won�t.� Michelle answered. �So you really dreamt that he died and was pulled into a black hole?� Michelle asked. �yes and more importantly, he said that we�re in danger too� Cass said nervously. �what we?� Jaime asked. �I want to find out more, we gotta get back to my place� Cass said to them. �Jaime are you able to sleep over?� �no, my dad is going somewhere and he said I have to go� �okay be careful. I�ll call you if anything goes wrong� Cass gave her a hug. Jaime rushed off home. �Michelle, come with me, I want you to help me with something� Cass ordered and they walked to the bus stop. �didn�t you knowtest something strange is going on with one of the investigators?� Michelle asked suddenly. �why?� �Because how would he know exactly where Jack was and that he was dead.� �good point� Cass thought. �Maybe he�s more than just an investigator. When we get home, I�m going to try and have one of the dreams, but I want you to wake me up if anything goes wrong.� Michelle agreed. Soon the bus came. They stepped into it. After 10 minutes of drive, they got home. �why did you come home?� Cass� mom asked. �someone�s dead, police found Jack under the earth� Michelle said. Cass�s mom quickly called the school and asked what happened. �I can�t believe this� She said after hanging up. �Mom we are going to our rooms now,� Cass said taking her bag and everything inside. �Okay so I�ll try to sleep, you can get some food or drink if you like.� Cass said to Michelle. �right, I�ll be right back� Cassandra closed her eyes, wishing she was asleep, soon by the next second, she was. She saw Jaime and her dad in a blue car. The car was driving way too fast and a big truck on the emergency bay just came out of nowhere and smashed right into Jaime�s car. �WAIT ..� She started to yell but was pulled out of her sleep. �hey are you okay?� Michelle asked, �You were looking really scared.� Cass quickly looked for her phone. �I have to call Jaime now� She said. Over in the car, Jaime answered. �hello� She whispered. �Cass I can�t talk� She started to say. �Jaime listen, you�re going to have a accident. You must get out of the road you�re in now or stop. Don�t go to the next emergency bay� �What are you talking about?� Jaime asked. �I had that dream again, I saw a truck and its big too. It will smash your car. And you�ll both be dead� Jaime started to feel scared. �I�ll stop dad now.� �I�ll meet you in the hospital near your place� Cass called, not knowing what she was talking about. Jaime immediately started to talk to her dad. �you have to slow down, STOP� She cried. �Shut up� He screamed and kept driving faster. �Dad I said stop, or else we�ll be in an accident� She said loudly. �okay that�s it, if you don�t stop talking I�ll make sure you�ll never get to talk to that Cassandra girl again� He yelled louder than before. The next minute Jaime saw the truck, it kept coming at them. Jaime�s dad tried to stop, but it couldn�t. it was too fast and BANG it crashed. Jaime didn�t know what happened next, but she woke up in the hospital bed feeling okay. she saw her mom beside her. �mom what happened?� �honey your dad drove too fast and hit into a truck� She said. �oh I remember� Jaime told her. �Cass called me, she said a truck was at the next emergency stopping bay, and I told dad, he drove faster and then I don�t know what happened� She said. �How did Cassandra know that you�re going to crash?� �she had a dream� Jaime explained. Cass and Michelle finally arrived at the hospital. �Is Jaime okay?� they asked as soon as they saw the nurse. �yes, she�s fine, but strangely her father died. I mean it�s so strange because they were sitting in the front together, so they should have had the exact same fate. I mean its so great Jaime didn�t die but I really don�t understand why. �what do you mean?� �Well the car had been smashed into so many small pieces. And her dad�s body was absolutely damaged. But she�s not even a little hurt. It doesn�t make any sense� Something strange is going on, Cass knew it, but no one knew exactly what. �can we please see Jaime?� Michelle asked the nurse. �sure follow me� she said and lead the way to a little room. Jaime saw Michelle and Cassandra. She was really happy. �Are you okay?� Cass asked rushing to her. �yes, I�m find. I don�t even feel a thing� Jaime said. �Do you know that your dad died in the accident?� Cass asked. Jaime couldn�t believe it. �really?� She asked. �yes, he died at the accident, and everyone is really surprised you lived. Because that was one of the most fatal accident in the year� Jaime was speechless. �I don�t know what to say� She said not knowing whether to feel happy or sad. �are you going to be okay to go home?� Michelle asked. �sure� Jaime got up, she looked perfectly fine. After they got home, Cass opened the door at her house. There was a note under her room. But no one had been in the house, her mom had been home the whole time and she didn�t hear anyone in. Cass opened up the note, it said: DEATH AFTER DARK Cass folds the note back, nearly dropping it. Who could�ve written it? And what does it mean. More importantly who came over to her house? She didn�t know if she should show it to her mom or not. Later she decided not to. She didn�t want anyone to know about this. Chapter 5: An unknown killer Meanwhile over at Michelle�s house, it was getting dark. It was about 8pm when her brother came home. He was working. As soon as he saw her he knew something was wrong. �Michelle are you okay?� Her brother Josh asked. �yeah I�m fine� She replied. �you don�t seem to be.� He said. �I can see it from your face.. Is it because what happened at school?� He asked. Michelle�s brother wasn�t one of the annoying people. He really was helping all the time, and he always helped Michelle if he could �Well you see, my new friend, she has all these dreams and they come true. It�s starting to scare me, and somehow the guy at school who died made contact with her and he said we�re all in danger� Josh didn�t know what to think. �whoa are you sure the dream was real?� �positive. She saw her friend in a car accident the next thing she was.� �maybe you should stay away from her. I mean if she is really having dreams that come true you shouldn�t go to her house, the next thing she dreams probably will be you dead. Listen, she�s the bad luck, if you go close to her, you�ll be in trouble.� Josh said. �No, she�s my friend, even if she is danger to me, I won�t stop talking to her, because she�s not trying to be that way.� Michelle yelled and stormed into her room. It�s been so long since she ever yelled at him. She reached for her school bad, but something was in it. She quietly put her hand on the zip, and opened it. �AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH� She screamed seeing blood in her bag. Josh quickly rushed in to see what was wrong. �Oh my� He said seeing blood all over inside her bag. �how is this?� �I told you something strange is going on� She screamed kicking the bag away. �don�t panic, let me throw this away� he said and grabbed the bag. Josh left the house and walked outside. �What�s taking him so long?� Michelle wondered. It had already been 5 minutes and Josh hadn�t came back yet. Five more minutes passed, now Michelle really began to worry about him. �Josh where are you?� She called. No answer. �I�m serious Josh, don�t scare me. I�m sorry about before. Don�t hide anymore� she called but still there�s nothing. She opened the door and walked outside. Josh had went to the bin to throw her bag away. �Josh where are you?� Josh didn�t reply. Michelle came over to the bin, but something was in there. It was her own brother lay dead in there with blood all over his body. �JOSH� She cried. But more scared, she ran inside and locked the door. In a hurry, she tried to find her phone. She called Cass. �CASS HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� She yelled into the phone. �Wait, what happened?� �I � I-found my bag filled with blood, then my brother was throwing it out for me and I found him dead in the bin. Help me, I�m scared� Michelle said sobbing. �Its okay just relax. Are you alone?� �Yes, mom won�t be home till late and dad�s away on trip. �Can you come over?� Cass asked. �I�m afraid to leave the house. I am really sorry to him, Cass, he tried to help me and I was mad at him. I wish I had a chance to say I wasn�t before..� �okay Shell, don�t worry, I�ll come over now. Where do you live?� Michelle gave her the address. �I�ll come with Jaime if I can.� Michelle was so scared she couldn�t even think. All she wished was someone there to help. After a long time, neither did Cass or Jaime come. Michelle was beginning to think of something happened to them as well. She could never forgive herself if something did. Finally she heard footsteps. �Michelle it�s us� Cass said. Michelle hurried to open the door and pulled them in. �Get inside.� She said. Jaime came too. �how did you get here?� �mom drove us. She�ll come and pick us up when your parents come back� Michelle nodded. �Where�s your brother�s body?� Cass asked. �in the rubbish bin. I�m scared, guys I really am. I think we�re next� Cassandra came close. �I found this� She showed the note to Michelle and Jaime. �that was under my room when I got back the day you had the accident� Cass looked at Jaime. They opened the note up and saw the blood red writing �death after dark�. �who wrote this do you know?� Michelle asked. �no I don�t. but it might be what Jack was saying, he told us we�d be in danger. Maybe what killed him is after us� Cass said. �but that thing is not even here. I couldn�t see anything when Josh died.� �it�s probably hiding somewhere� Jaime said shaking. �we have to stay calm, whatever we do, don�t split okay!!� Cass ordered. They all agreed. �Please don�t leave the house though, maybe that thing is waiting to get one of you� Michelle said. �I�ll get you a glass of water, be right back� Cass said. But she caught sight of something before she moved. �guys, look closely to the bin, see anything?� The girls watched, nothing. �I thought I saw something move� �don�t look, it will make you more scared� �but I did see something� Cass protested. They watched for another few minutes. Still nothing. �don�t worry there�s nothing� But as soon as the other two stepped away, Cass saw it. She saw the body in pieces, it was coming out of the bin. �uh guys..LOOK� She screamed. They turned around. But they didn�t see anything. �there�s nothing in that bin ok� Michelle said. �I swear I just saw your brother�s body come out.� �no, he�s dead, he can�t move� Michelle said. They didn�t look outside. Cass could hear a voice. It sounded like a guy�s. �who are you?� the voice was Josh. �I�m Michelle�s brother, Cassandra, you must hear this. The thing that killed me, it�s not normal. You must be careful. You can kill it with the help of Jaime. You could do it, but you could die easily too. So be careful and I wish you well� His voice said. �Josh where are you?� Cass asked. But no reply. �Josh are you there?� She asked. �Cass what�s happening?� Jaime asked. �I heard Josh, I mean he spoke to me. He told me that the thing that killed him wasn�t normal. That we had to be careful. Cass shook her head. �I know we gotta be careful but he also said we could kill with the help of Jaime� Jaime looked at her. �what could I do?� �maybe you can do something we can�t.� Michelle said. �and that would be what?� �Jaime, remember the day you had that terrible accident? And your dad�s body is totally destroyed and the police could hardly find any debris but you remained perfectly well?� Cassandra reminded her. �yes, but how?� �I think you don�t get killed easily, or at least you�re much stronger than us.� �I don�t get it� Jaime said. �okay we have to try something. Do you mind if it hurt a little?� Cass asked. Jaime shook her head. �no� Cass walked over and got a needle. And she pricked her with it on a finger. �ouch� she said but immediately the cut was gone and the blood was not to be seen. �that�s what I mean� Cass said proudly. �how did I do that?� �I don�t know, but the point is that you can, and because you can, we�re not going to lose you� Cass said. That made Michelle and Jaime both feeling better. �I can�t believe it, that day I felt a huge crash but I didn�t feel much pain, then I woke up I was perfectly fine� �I knew you did something but I didn�t know what. So I couldn�t tell you, but thanks to Josh who told me. I don�t know how he knew though.� �perhaps dead people knows everything� They finally were able to laugh a little. It was still hard for Michelle to accept the fact that her brother was dead. It was Wednesday that day, school would be back on the next day. All night the girls waited for Michelle�s mom to come, but she never did. �maybe we should look outside� Jaime suggested. �okay lets go� They were looking at everything. �there�s mom�s car, I wonder where she is?� Michelle thought. �uh Michelle, I think your mom is dead. She�s in the car.� Michelle looked at the car in fear. �I don�t believe this� She raced over and it was right, there was blood spilled everywhere in the car. Jaime, Cass and Michelle closed their eyes when they saw that. It was the most scariest scene they�ve ever seen. �what should we do?� Michelle asked. �runnnnnn!!!� they all ran back and locked all the doors. They were barely able to breath by the time they rushed back. �oh my god we�re gonna die� Michelle cried. �no we won�t� �look at everyone. They�re all dead.� �but we�ve stayed alive, so we must be able to continue to stay alive� Cass said. They tried to call Cass� mom to bring them home, unfortunately no one answered. �I hope mom�s not dead� Cass said frightened. The phone kept on ringing but no one answered. �c�mon answer!!!� Cass said impatiently. After a long time ringing, her mom finally picked up the phone. �hi, sorry I couldn�t answer, I didn�t hear the mobile.� She said. Cass was relieved. She was happy that her mom isn�t dead yet but for how long? She didn�t know. �We gotta get out of here before we�re all dead� Jaime said and pulled them out. �I think we should stay� Michelle said. The others looked at her. �because you saw what happened them the other people. As soon as they stepped outside they were dead. Do you want that to happen to any of us?� �no of course but its not safe here� Cass said. �its not safe anywhere� Michelle yelled. �I�m just too scared� she said. They tried looking outside. Now everything seemed different, even the trees and the people on the streets don�t look normal. �no we�re seeing things. Its not real� Cass said. �look at her, she�s got a snake on her!!!!!!!� Michelle screamed pointing at a women on the street. She looked find to Cass and Jaime. �no, its not true, clear your mind� Cass told her. Michelle blinked, and looked at her again. There was nothing. �you gotta try not to be scared� Cass said. �it�s making you see things you�re scared of� �okay I�ll try� Michelle said. Now it was at midnight, exactly 12 o�clock. But nothing. Nothing at all came. They went to sleep. But Cass was again dreaming. This time, she was in camping in a tent. �where am I?� she thought and got out. But when she did, her tent had gone and she was alone in the forest. �UH where is everyone?� She asked. No one was there. She tried calling but nothing came. After a while, she searched for something and found a torch. It was dark at night and she could hardly see anything. She pushed the button on the torch but it didn�t light. So she turned it on and off. Finally it lit, only for five seconds though, but enough for her to see a little hut just ahead. �oh yes, saved by the hut� she cried and ran in. but it was locked. It slowly opened the by itself. �hello? Anyone there?� she called. No answer, she came in. And the door shut again. She tried opening it but it was locked. �I don�t wanna be locked here� she called. Slowly, she began hearing some noise. It was a howling of the wolf. �help, open the door� The wolf came closer and closer. �OWWWWWWWW� it cried. Cass screamed........the wolf came closer and closer. �Cass wake up,� Jaime nudged her. Cass woke up with a start. �I was chased by a wolf� She said. �what? Where?� Michelle asked. �in a hut, I got lost there and somehow ended in the bush alone. And then I tried to find somewhere to stay and I was locked in a hut.� Now they knew that if Cass dreamt of something it had a high chance of it coming true. �okay whatever you do don�t go on camp next week� Jaime said. �camp?� Cass asked forgetting all about the camp that was on next week. �we got camp next Monday to Thursday.� Jaime reminded her. That scared Cass. �oh my god today is Thursday, its next week. I totally forgot about it!!� Cass stressed. �you can�t go, or else you�re dead.� Michelle warned. �I know� They thought of different ways to say why she couldn�t go. �we have to go to school today, I�ll ring mom and tell her we�re there� Cass said getting herself up. �are you sure its safe? Remember what happened here last night? Two people were killed.� Michelle said. �well what choice do we have?� They got ready and headed to school. Chapter 6: The Camp is Cancelled When they got there, thankfully, no other mysterious deaths were found. The teachers were talking about camp on the next day. Cass, Jaime and Michelle sat on the chairs. Cass raised up her hand. �I don�t think I can go to the camp� She said. �well you have to, unless you can get sick overnight and I mean real SICK not just a little cold, you�ve missed school last week but sorry, you�re coming to the camp. End of story� he yelled. �I hate it when they say that� Cass whispered. �I know, but what are you going to do?� �I�ll think of something� They listened to the boring things the teacher said about what to bring. �I can�t believe I forgot totally about it.� Cass said to Michelle and Jaime. After the day, Cass didn�t know what to do, she is about to die in the woods and she couldn�t tell anyone. Finally when the bell rang, she decided to tell her teacher about the dreams coming true. �uh Sir, I need to talk to you� She said. �yes� �I can�t go to the camp� �oh you said that before..like I sai..� he didn�t finish his sentence before she cut him off. �you don�t understand, I have dreams that do come true, bad ones. If I go to this camp I will be dead� She said. Now that made him laugh. �oh silly girl, camp�s not that scary is it?� �You don�t get the point, I mean I will die because a wolf will eat me.� She said. Now that cracked her teacher up even more. �where do you hear these jokes from?� He laughed. That made Cass frustrate. �Okay believe it or not, me and my two friends are in danger, from what I don�t know. But I know that something is after us. Michelle�s brother and mother are all DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!� She yelled. That made him a bit scared. �what?� he finally asked. �last night, I stayed at Michelle�s because she found blood in her bag. Her brother was throwing her bag in the bin and the next thing she knew, he was dead. His body was dumped inside the bin� She continued. His face started to change, from a �you�re crazy� look to �this is serious� look. �I�m not joking about this, but I can�t go. It would be safer if you called off the whole thing� She said and left. Michelle and Jaime were waiting at the door. �did you tell him?� they asked. �yes, and he was scared. I told him to call off the camp but I don�t know if he will� She said. �I hope he does. I don�t want to think about camp. Maybe everyone will die� �We just have to wait and find out� Cass said. They stepped down the stairs, but something caught their eyes. �ahhhhh look!!!!!!!!!!!!� Michelle pointed down the stairs. �blood.� Cass said. �follow the drops� They started following the blood drops. �please tell me no one�s dead� Jaime shivered. The blood drops were getting bigger. �I don�t want to go, I�m too scared� Michelle said shaking her head.� �we have to find out what it is� Jaime said starting to feel brave. They walked further and further. It had lead them to a small dark room. �look a stream of blood� Cass pointed to the doorway. �open the door� Jaime whispered. Jaime slowly turned the handle. There was the blood, all over the floor but no body. �Cass, Michelle, there�s no one here� �that can�t be possible� Cass said. �we�ll go in and look� �how could you want to go in? there could be something waiting to kill us� Michelle said. �we need to find out who�s dead� They finally agreed and went inside and walked around. All they could see was blood. �I�m going to be sick soon. This smells so bad� Cass made a face. �me too� the others said together. They crept around the room but still haven�t found anything yet. �there�s gotta be a dead body around� Cass said. �its freaking me out lets just get the heck out of here� Jaime said looking at the blood on the floor. �wait I think we�ve missed something.� Cass suddenly said. �what do you mean?� �we have to look up to. All this time we�ve been focusing on what�s below but we missed what�s above. We gotta check on the ceiling too� �oh c�mon who would tie the body in the c�� Michelle said half way staring open mouthed at something. �what�s the matter Shell?� �guys, look� She gasped and pointed up. Jaime and Cass looked straight up. �OH MY GODDD!!� They yelled. There was the teacher that Cass was talking to earlier. His body was hanged there. They closed their eyes and ran as fast as they could outside. �It was all your idea, we shouldn�t have came here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!� Michelle cried. �something isn�t right� Jaime thought. �why did the thing kill so many people like Jack, Josh, Michelle�s mom, and now the teacher but not us?� �we don�t know what the thing is!!!!!!!� Michelle said. �we will find out soon� Cass said. �how?� �I don�t know� By the afternoon, people had found Mr Steven�s body. It was the teacher who died. There was letter going home saying that the camp on Monday was cancelled. Cass was relieved. But also school was going to close down for a month. People had mysteriously died and no one wanted anymore death. �I�m not sure about this� Cass said. �I�ve got a sickening feeling that this would only do much worse. Now that everyone�s at home, I think everyone�s dead.� �we have to get out of here� Michelle said. �where do we go? Nowhere is safe� �you�re right� Jaime agreed. �nowhere is safe until that thing is gone� While they were talking, Jaime heard a scream. It came from the bushes outside. �no don�t go� Cass called but Jaime had already went. They followed her. It was a girl from the younger grades. She was screaming. Jaime ran towards her. �what�s wrong?� She asked. �something was here� the girl whimpered. �who?� �I can�t see.� She cried. Jaime could see her shoulders was badly hurt. �come with me, I�ll get you safe� she said. That time Michelle and Cass had just caught up. �who is she?� they asked. �she�s a victim� Jaime said. They went back to Cass� home. As they got to the door, Cass saw another piece of paper under her no. �no not this again� she opened the paper. This time, it said. DO YOU KNOW YOU�RE NEXT WITH YOUR FRIENDS. DIE! Cass quickly tore the paper. �who put this here?� she wondered. Now everything was too strange. All the things seem to be connected but she couldn�t think of who is doing that. �whoever you are, stop it!!!� She yelled. �Cass that won�t help� Jaime said. They had all been traumatized that they didn�t even feel fear anymore. Chapter 7: The Face of the killer After a long time, Cass couldn�t even hear anything. Her mom wasn�t home. �I just want to know who�s doing this!!!� Michelle cringed. �maybe not� They were alone in the house and it was the scariest moments ever when the night came. �Maybe we should call the police� �don�t drag them in. if they�re involved they�re dead too� Cass said. �how do you know?� �because I figured. The people who died all knew a little part to this mystery� Cass explained. �I shouldn�t have told Mr Steve about this, then he would�ve lived. �its not your fault� Jaime said. Cass sat down on the bed. �oh did you guys feel that?� �what?� �a cold chill, it felt as if someone was here� �no� Michelle replied. �I think I did� Jaime said. At a distance away, they could see something appearing. They crept further from that place. It turned bigger and bigger until it was a black shadow. �LIKE I SAID YOU�RE NEXT� the shadow laughed. The three girls screamed but it was no use, he came towards them. �now you firrrrrrrrrst� He said grabbing Michelle�s next. �NO� Jaime cried and flung her body to him. �Jaime what are you doing?� �remember? I�m invincible!� she said. �you run as fast as you can� She said holding him back. �no, it can�t be�� the black shadow screamed. He then vanished. �what happened?� Michelle wondered. �Jaime, you scared him away� Cass smiled. �I did?� �yes� They were happy about that. �what was he? And why did he want to kill us?� Michelle asked. �That�s a mystery I can�t even solve, but he�s gone now� Cass said happily. But it was a huge mistake. The shadow was very bad, there was a evil spirit inside but unless he�s been killed with a special way, he gets stronger and stronger. That night the girls thought he was gone, so they were back to their happy selves. �Wow Jaime you did great!� Cass cheered. �yeah and we never have to worry about him again� They tried to sleep that night, Cassandra was the first one to fall asleep. While she was sleeping, she had a dream. The black shadow locked up Jaime, and then killed Michelle. And also killed her mother then at last her. She woke up sweating. �guys!!!!!!!!!!� she yelled and turned on the light. Michelle and Jaime woke up. �I was sleeping� They said. �something isn�t good, I just had a dream, we�re in more danger than ever before� now their faces turned serious as well. �you mean another bad dream?� �yes, Jaime I saw you get locked up, then the black thing killed Michelle, then my mom and finally me� She said. �what should we do?� �we have to find out who he is and why he wants to kill us� �you think you can?� �no� They all got up now couldn�t sleep anymore. �he�s after us anytime, anywhere� They tried to find comfort, but a whole night they were fearing what would happen next. �Michelle do you know anything about Blackman�s story?� Cass asked suddenly laying up. �what in the world is that?� �it�s a story mom always told me when I was young, she said there was a man wearing black all the time, and he wanted to kill people. It was his fun� �no I don�t know anything about it� �Well he was killed by the police after being caught killing someone. And then before he died, I think we wore a black coat..and..� Cass tired but she couldn�t remember much more. �and�what?� �I forgot the rest� �you have to try to remember. That might be the only chance to find out who he is and how to kill him!!!� Jaime said. �I really can�t remember. It used to be just a story. I mean I never took notice of it� �why don�t you call your mom and ask her. I bet she knows� �no,� Cass said. �why?� �do you know if we ask her what�s going to happen? She�s gonna die� They suddenly remembered that if someone knew this they were going to die. �we can�t bring them in� �so you�ll have to try remembering as much as you can� �Maybe I can�t but would I have a dream?� Cass wondered. �you mean you can call dreams to you?� Jaime asked. �I never have tried but I can now.� Jaime and Michelle looked at each other. �we�ll watch you� �just be careful.� Cass said. She closed her eyes and began hoping she�d dream about the story. �dream about that story, dream about that story, dream about that story� She kept saying in her mind. It began: **** In the yard, the man carried a women and started strangling her. �help� She cried before passing out. Then the police came, there were exactly 4, and one held out a gun. �move and you�ll be shot� he said. The man put up both hands. They handcuffed him back. After they talked for a long time, and decided he must die for his crimes. It had been the 38 person he killed by strangling them. They said he had one week to live. He grumbled and said something. �you�re making the worst mistake, when I�m dead I�ll be more powerful then before. FOOLS� He said under his breath. Unfortunately no one heard this. Seven days later, it was his time to be hanged. �now do want to do anything before you die?� the man asked. He took out his black coat. �yes� he said. He held the black coat up, �the day you destroy this is the day I really die. Until then, more people will DIE each day� He said holding the black coat. �Excuse me, but I will be right back� he said. The police loosened his chains. He walked outside and buried the coat deep in the soil. One of the police laughed. �HAHA you�re so stupid. You think your coat is sooooo magical you can stay alive� he said. Then that day he was hanged. ***** Cass woke up. �are you okay?� Michelle asked. �the coat, we gotta get the coat and burn it� she said. �what are you talking about? What coat?� Jaime asked. Cass told them her dreams and what happened. �his coat is what�s keeping him alive. If we burn it he will die too. I think he buried it very deep under ground. �um�you see, the world is very big, how are we going to find what street it�s at?� Jaime asked. �I have an idea, in my dream it was near the police station, but it could�ve gone because that was too long ago.� �But what if he kills us while we try to find the coat?� Michelle asked. �Jaime� Cass replied. �she can keep us alive but if she�s separated we�ll surely die� They started making phone calls about it. Cass asked if they remember hanging a guy 21 years go. No one remembered. �Uh what should we do, no one�s gonna remember� �I think it was on some street started with alf�something. I can�t remember� �do you think it was Alfara St?� Jaime asked. �maybe� �I know there, I�ll take you� She said. Michelle and Cass followed Jaime out the door. Chapter 8: The search for the coat They walked for hours on the street until they were so tired. �its around somewhere� Jaime said trying hard to remember. �ah there it is� Michelle said pointing at the street sign. There was Alfara St right ahead. �wait there� nothing familiar with this street.� Cass said. �You mean it wasn�t this street?� �no, it must be another street started with alf�� They all groaned. �so what do we do now?� Jaime asked. �but wait, we should at least ask around is there another alf�street around here� Michelle suggested. �good idea.� They walked towards a little shop. �how may I help you?� the shopkeeper asked. �do you know another street started with alf? �no sorry� he said. �Cass are you sure it doesn�t look familiar to you?� Michelle asked. �I�m sure, the picture in my dreams was a different place� They left Alfara Street and headed back home not knowing what the man was going to do next. �I�m too scared to go back, I want to stay here� Michelle said. �and you think he�s not going to find us here?� Cass asked. They looked at that street once more before leaving. When they got home, they found no difference at Cass� house. �phew, he hasn�t left another note� �Jaime you have to stay close to us, I dreamt he locked you up� Cass warned. Jaime nodded. �I promise I wont leave.� Cass looked up in the street directory trying to find another street starting with Alf� �I think I found it, that�s the place!� she pointed at Alfine St. �do you know that�s a one day drive?� Michelle asked. �no� �we can�t get there by walking.� �how can we get there then?� Jaime asked. �maybe we can ask mom to drive us!� Cass said. �no we can�t� she suddenly remembered about the whole getting involved thing. �we have to get there by ourselves. If we want to live� Cass said. �I�ll get some water and food. We�ll pack a bag and get on our way.� �I don�t think we should do this� Michelle argued. �do you want us all to die? And everyone at school too?� Cass asked. �no� �then follow us!!� Michelle finally agreed to go along. They have planned to take the train to the nearest station then try and find their way to that street. It�s going to be a very long trip. It was at noon now, they were riding on the train. It was very hot. After three hours on the train, they got off. �are we even close?� Michelle asked. �nup, still half a day to travel before we start walking.� �so what are we doing now?� �we have to switch trains� They hanged around the station trying to find out what time the next train came. �where exactly are we going?� Michelle asked. �yes, we�re going to the north-side and the street we have to get to is Alfine St. And I hope that black Jacket and the place is there� Cass replied. They went a bit more. Then it started to rain. �great time to rain� Jaime hissed. �c�mon, we gotta get that train� She yelled, and it was leaving. They ran as fast as they could and finally got in. If they hadn�t they would have waited for 2 hours for the next one.� Michelle, Jaime and Cass got in. They were soaking wet now. �I can�t believe we�re so drowned� �we gotta think the bright side, at least we don�t have to wait 2 hours in the rain� Jaime said. It started to rain harder. �I hope it�s not like this in a few hours time when we get off� Cass said looking at her watch. It was already 2:50pm. And in a few hours it would be dark. And they had no idea how they were going to find anything when its black, and that�s when the man will attack. �I think we have to find somewhere to stay� Cass said to the other two. �where can we stay?� Jaime asked. �hotel?� Michelle asked. �we don�t have that much money� Cass said. �maybe we can ask someone if we can stay there overnight� Jaime suggested but Cass shook her head. �no, if the man is after us he�ll kill anyone involved.� They sat in the train and waited...and wait. Everyone in the train was falling asleep except for them. �I don�t want to do this anymore� Michelle said. �what do you mean?� Cass asked. �maybe it�s just better dying� She said. Jaime came to her. �no, we gotta try. Trust me you don�t want to die� That made Michelle feel a bit better. None of them believe what was happening. But yet they had to. Because all of this was real. Five Hours Later It's just after 7:30 at night, the train finally stopped. Everyone was out. The train was clear now, Cass Michelle and Jaime looked around the station. They saw nothing familiar. They didn�t know anything about the place. �we have to stay somewhere, we can�t look for that street now� Jaime said. �any idea where do we go?� Cass suddenly felt something. �wait, I think we are at the right place� She finally said. �really?� Michelle asked. �I know it. We�re almost there. Lets just try and find it tonight� Cass said. That made the other two speechless. �you�re joking right?� Michelle asked. �no� Cass said, �I�m dead serious� �how can we even see a street sign?� Jaime asked. �we do that by sense. I think I know where to go� Cass said and started walking. While they were searching, the man was following them along all the time. He knew exactly where the black coat is. �you really think you can destroy me? I�ll hide the coat before you even get there� He sneered. Unfortunately for the girls, they didn�t know. �I think we�re getting closer� Cass said. �there�s the street!!!� She pointed at the street. �wow that�s it?� �its here I know it� �so we�ll start searching� Cass ordered and split everyone up. Jaime looked at the right side, Cass looked at the left and Michelle in the left side at the front of the street. �we�ll meet here in 15 minutes� Cass said setting her watch. �if you don�t find it come back to this spot� So they went. Cass walked around looking for the place. �its near.� She thought. Then she saw a hole. �oh no,� she said. It was exactly where the coat had been. �He must�ve taken it out.� Cass said to herself, then her watch beeped. Time was up and she had to go back and meet Jaime and Michelle. �have you seen Jaime?� Michelle asked in panic. �what, where is she?� Cass asked. �I can�t find her anywhere.� Cass suddenly remembered. Her dream. How Jaime was locked up. �oh no� She said. �where have she gone?� Michelle asked frantically. �I think the man took her. And he locked her up� Cass said. Now things was getting worse, Michelle and Cass were totally lost and Jaime was gone. ******* Jaime opened her eyes, she was in a dark place. �where am I?� She thought. �somewhere in your nightmares� A voice said. That made Jaime very scared. �who are you?� She asked. Then the man came. �I know what you were going to do, or will do.� He croaked. �so I�m going to lock you up forever� Jaime tried to break free, but the bars were tightly locked. �help!! Anybody hear me?� She yelled. All she heard was him laughing. Now, in her mind, all hope is gone. There was no way out of it... Chapter 9: Lost and found It was just after midnight, Cass stood by the road, with Michelle. It was very dark and there was hardly any lights. Cass and Michelle decided to take a break so they sat down. Cass took her blanket out from her bag. She just drifted off to sleep when she heard a voice. It was Jaime. �Michelle!! CASS!!� Jaime yelled from a cave. Cass and Michelle were searching for Jaime, but it was still raining heavily and now it�s beginning to snow as well, the temperature was getting colder, almost freezing.. It was a long way away from where they were now, but Michelle was shaking heavily. She walked slower and slower until she couldn�t at all. �Michelle are you ok?� She asked. Michelle couldn�t respond. She fell down and Cass caught her just in time. �what�s the matter??!!� Cass asked Michelle was trembling and shaking. �I�m dying� that was all she could say.. They had no food left and Michelle�s clothes were soaking wet. Cass walked more pulling Michelle. She walked in the cave and found Jaime. �Jaime thank god you�re okay. But something is wrong with Michelle� �what do you mean?� �I think she has one of the symptoms where she her temperature is drops rapidly and she dies from the cold� Cass explained. �how is that possible?� Jaime asked. �I don�t know, I read about it one of the books at school� Cass replied. �I can�t get out, I�m locked in� Jaime said shaking the bars. �how do we get you out? �there is a key, its hidden under the tree. You have to get it..� Michelle was getting weaker. And Cass had to find the key. Now it was a time where everyone�s life was holding on to a tiny thread that could break any minute. Finally Cass found the key, she saw a tree really big right infront of the cave. She hurried back with the key and freed Jaime. They saw Michelle, by that time she was almost unconcious. �we gotta get her to a hospital now!� Jaime said. �there�s no phone or anything here� Cass said. �keep her warm then, we have to think of something� Jaime said and put her jumper on Michelle. But Michelle wasn�t getting a lot worse, soon she stopped breathing. �Michelle!!!!!� they yelled� Cass woke up. She was dreaming. Michelle was lying next to her. She was so glad it was just a dream, that she had time to stop it before it was too late. �Michelle you�re gonna be in great trouble soon� She said. Michelle�s face began to worry. �do you have a problem with cold?� Cass asked. Michelle nodded. �after a certain temperature, when its cold I can freeze to death easily.� �we have to get you somewhere safe, it�s going to snow soon and if you don�t get out of here you won�t survive.� Michelle looked at her. �how bout you? How are you going to find Jaime?� Michelle asked. �don�t worry I know where she is, in a cave. You need to find someone, and ask them if you can spend the night. Tomorrow morning we�ll meet at Alfine St where we did today okay� Cass said asking her to leave. Michelle wasn�t sure. �I mean it go now!!!!!!!!!!!!� Cass yelled. Michelle finally left. Meanwhile Cass went alone to find Jaime. But it was quite impossible to find her that way. A while later, they came across a old dirty road. �looks like we�re lost again� Michelle said. �no, we�re near� Cass said as she looked around. �ah there it is!!!� She pointed at a faraway big tree. �its behind that tree� They started going to the tree, but it was almost 10 minutes walk. Now it was windy and snow was coming soon. Cass tried to run but it was too hard. She was amost carrying Michelle now. They got to the cave. Cass could remember every part of her dreams. She got the key from under the big tree and ran inside looking for Jaime. �Cass you came� Jaime said not believing what she saw. She didn�t reply, she just opened the door as fast as she could before Michelle collapsing on her. �this is going to happen I know.� Cass said. �what is going to happen?� �Michelle�she�s going to die� Cass said almost crying. �What are we going to do?� Jaime asked. They knocked on the door. She answered it. Cass thought she looked like a really nice person. She didn�t want her involved in this but right now there was no choice. �hi� She said in a nice voice when she opened the door. �hey, we need to talk to you.� Cass said. �sure come in� Jaime and Cass went inside. �I�m really sorry, but we all are in great danger, and we need something that you have� Jaime said. �what are you talking about?� The women asked. �I�m sorry, its very hard to explain, but also hard to believe.� Cass began. But somehow she knew she could get through her. �call me Kartherine� She said. Cass and Jaime explained everything that happened to them for the past months, the death of Michelle, the death of students and teachers... He started choking her. �take out that ancient rock and she�s dead� He said in a deep voice. �alright let her go, I won�t� Jaime said. �no you�re going to give it to me first� �you let her go first, then I swear I�ll give it� Cass said. He let go of her, she gasped for air. �katherine are you okay?� Cass asked. She could barely speak. But nodded. �that�s not the end either� Jaime said and pointed the ancient rock at him. Slowly he began to feel the pain. �I�m dying�I�m going to get you� he smirked. �no you won�t� Jaime said and opened her bag up. She took out a match. �Burn� She said and threw it at him. He screamed and yelled until all the flames went out. �now do you to feel it� Cass asked. �ok feel ten times worse!!!!!!!!� She said throwing the rock straight at him. He screamed in pain then was gone. They rushed over to Katherine. �are you ok?� She finally could talk. �yeah I�m fine�� �the stone, its still here� Cass said. �take this to your husband� Jaime said picking it up and putting it into her hands. �we don�t need this anymore..� They were all relieved. They finally killed him. Chapter 11: A new start Two Weeks Later It was Michelle�s funeral today. Cass chose to read something for Michelle, here�s what she said. Michelle had only known us for a while, but it feels like I�ve known her all my life. She�s always been so kind. She had died so young, and her life isn�t even full yet. I think that the good times in her life will be remembered by all of us here today. She died because of me, because of helping us so we don�t die. I hope she rests in peace. Her memories we shared together will never end. Cass finsihed the last part and put a flower above Michelle�s grave. �Michelle, this is goodbye then� Cass said wiping a few tears away. �are you ok?� Jaime came over to her. �yeah� �we�re all sad, and we�ll never forget her..� They started walking towards the park. �Jaime, I can�t believe a few months ago we didn�t even know her, and now without her just doesn�t feel right.� Cass said. �I know, I really miss her.� They hugged each other thankful that they still had each other. They got home, now everything was back to normal. Jaime and Cass was going to school the next day. They had no fear left for themselves now. While packing her bag for the next day, Cass got something out. It was her old assignment. Her science one. Now everything had changed so much she couldn�t believe how precious life was. They got to school the next day, it was also strange that half of the students had gone and so did some teachers. They all died for no reason. But one thing that Cass and Jaime learned was that never think nothing will happen to you, it was overnight their lives were in danger and so could anyone else in the whole world, so appreciate every minute of life and spend it the best way you can.
