Author and Illustrator Christine Mitchell

The author lives in California with her husband and two daughters: one through the miracle of birth, one through the miracle of adoption. Her younger daughter joined the family at the age of four. Disappointed by the lack of picture books specifically for older child adoptions, Ms. Mitchell was inspired to write Welcome Home, Forever Child.

Ms. Mitchell chose to depict the characters as cats because cats are a favorite in her family, and because the different colors of the cats reflects differences in appearance that are common in both domestic and international adoptions. She is an advocate of older child adoption, and encourages people interested in adopting older children to find out more.

Ms. Mitchell recently completed ADOPTION AWARENESS IN SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS: A Guide for Parents and Educators. She is currently working on two children's books.
