Scouting

The scouting ability allows the ranger to travel over the land at skipping some of the basic travel. In my mind, the scout trails are like short cuts that nobody else know about. To start learning scouting track other players. This is done by typing Track "player name" Please be sure to get permission first. Then go to another room and type track . My advice to you is this, go to Arthdale and find the kitten or scarecrow. Track these two until you reach somewhere around 35 ranks. At 35 ranks I do believe you can scout your first trail out the NE gate of crossing.

Some things you should know before attempting scouting. Extremely heavy burdens will prevent you from being able to travel the trails. Also, alot of injuries as well and bad ranger bonus will keep you from them. Get healed or decrease your burden before trying to travel them. Try typing Scout Trail where you think a trail is. You will get messaging telling you you notice a marker. Type examine trail see where the trail leads. Keep in mind that some trails lead right into the middle of hunting areas so don't get yourself caught up in the middle of a pack of leucs and be careful. If you don't have the skill to see the trail or you have a bad bonus you'll get a message that says, "huh?" Once you reach around 170 scouting you can create you own scout trails.

Trails in Ratha

  • Reshalian Trade Road to Egress BLuff.

    [Reshalia Trade Road]

The land near the city has been denuded of all vegetation save for weeds, and even the useful among their number have been rooted up and foraged into extermination. All that's left are some scrubby grasses and a few patches here and there of a particularly ugly creeper. An occasional insect creeps, hops or buzzes about its business, but even the bugs have largely sought more hospitable terrain.

    Obvious paths: north, southeast.

scout trail - You notice a trailmarker peeking out of the bare soil.

examine trail - The sign of the singing bluff is chiseled into a grey-veined brown fieldstone.

  • Egress Bluff to Reshalia Trade Road.

    [Old Fields Road, Low Hills]

Tufts of grass grow around an old post. A comparative oasis in this barren area, the small patch of life only further underscores the bleakness of the landscape. The sullen volcano rises to the west and dominates the countryside with rumbles and belches.

    Obvious paths: east, northwest.

Scout Trail - You notice a trailmarker on the side of an old post.

Examine trail - Heavy lines burned into the sun-bleached wood form the sign of the gate of commons.

  • Reshalia Trade Road to Silver Leucros

[Reshalia Trade Road, Farmland] The road runs close by the edge of the barley fields to the west. On the opposite side of the way the land resembles a rural garbage heap. The farmers apparently dumped stumps and boulders dug out of the fields across the road, and then continued dumping anything else they didn't want there in subsequent years. Beyond the narrow strip of rocks and refuse the land rises in a steep slope, a berm covered with grass and weeds and loose-looking rocks. You also see an onager. Obvious paths: northeast, south.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker on the end grain of a fallen log.

Examine trail - Deep lines etched into the rotting wood form the sign of the broken road.

  • Silver Leucs to Reshalia trade Road

[Abandoned Road, The Pit Edge] A misstep in the darkness at the edge of the pit would surely be fatal, and the traveler does well here to rely on the feel of the ground underfoot. The wood to the east may offer more security -- or only danger of a different kind. Obvious paths: east, south, southwest, northwest.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker scratched into a chunk of black basalt.

Examine trail - Thin lines etched into the basalt form the sign of the gate of commons.

    Trails in Aesry

  • Road to Snow Goblins

    [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Shadaer Jama]

Dark basalt towers above, the natural walls of the selhin dava rising several thousand feet above the path. Brilliant white light shines from the Twin Sentinels of Aesry Surlaenis'a, guarding either side of the pass. A narrow dirt path runs through the pass.

    Obvious paths: southwest.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker on a chunk of dark basalt.

Examine trail - Fluid lines etched into the black stone form the sign of the glacier.

  • Snow Goblins to Road

    [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Geshiger]

The narrow passage to the south opens out into a large echoing cavern, with icy walls soaring into darkness. The soft brushing sound is that of falling particles of frozen mist -- it whispers as it touches the floor, the chunks of fallen rock, or your face.

    Obvious exits: northeast, south.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker chiseled into a snow-dusted rock.

Examine trail - Visible beneath a shifting layer of snow is the sign of the terraced road.

  • Docks to Hart Hall

    [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Shadaer]

A few small boats are anchored away from the pier. The waters below are alive with scores of fish that come to feed off of the trash that is dumped into the harbor each night. The reek of decaying garbage rises from the water. You also see a wooden ladder. Obvious paths: north.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker carved into the weathered pier.

Examine trail - The lines forming the sign of the standing buck are still visible on the eroded timber.

  • Hart Hall to Docks

    [Aesry Surlaenis'a, Wooded Path]

Young aspens that quiver with each breeze grow in the space beneath the towering rowans. The smaller growth screens and shelters the area from the forest beyond, forming a natural sanctuary. You also see a rustic pine log cabin, a sturdy fieldstone cottage, and a pine log cabin covered in cobwebs and pieces of dried crusted leaves.

    Obvious paths: southeast, down.

Scout trail - You notice a trailmarker incised into a rowan tree.

Examine trail - The sign of the troubled wave is finely carved into the tree's tender bark.
