The Protectors are an immensely important part of life in the Forests of Fate. They are similar to the Gods of other games. There is a Protector representative for each species in the Forests. These go among the ordinary players, often choosing to assist a creature or territory that appears worthy. However, some may be excessively fierce when crossed, so it is advisable to be mindful of your actions when in their presence. Following is a description of the current Protectors.
Deep Luck
The fox Protector and easily most cunning of all the Protectors, Deep Luck is a lover of trickery. He prefers to get his way in through use of various tricks, rather than fighting. He is cheerful and lighthearted and will only fight if the alternative is dying. Despite his disposition, he enjoys winning as much as Shadowlight and cannot be trusted. Deep Luck has allegiances to no territory, believing ties to be far too risky and
complicated. Hence he is bound to no creature but himself. His power is that of flying.
Moonstorm
The wolf Protector Moonstorm is suprisingly gentle, yet is an exceptional warrior when she has a reason to be. She values honesty and fair play and will join any fight to aid creatures she feels possess these traits. When a territory requires assisstance, she is the one who most often comes to their aid. Being a wolf of nobility and morality, she defends the innocent and weak. This results in her having few concrete ties, as her principles compel her to offer assitance where it is required and allegiances may prevent her from offering this aid freely. She is able to be held in trust and her power is to attract newcomers to the Forests of Fate. Because of this, she is often referred to as the unoffical leader of the Protectors and the others will often defer to her.
Bold
The horse Protector, Bold, is the most noble of the five. Though coming across as rather aloof, he respects courage above all else and will assist those who evince this trait. He excels in fighting and is a notoriously deadly enemy. Though Bold has choosen not to have a magic talent, this does not render him any less dangerous. He is assigned to watch over The Circle, accepting new-comers as he deems them worthy. Recognising the creatures of Moonbanks to be worthy and honourable creatures, Bold has sworn to defend them. He is trustworthy and yet another powerful ally.
Shadowlight
The tiger Protector and most bloodthirsty of all the Protectors. Shadowlight is fierce and cunning, with little sense of honor or noblitly. She enjoys supporting successful factions and will do anything to achieve this end. She observed the warrior nature of those at Cloudmeadow following their proposal of battle against Stormhollow when the Forests were young and thus she forged an alliance with the creatures she deemed strongest and most likely to triumph in battle. She is slow to anger, yet few who anger her have lived to tell the tale. Be warned; she is a fair weather friend. Her power is to read minds.
Swiftflight
The hawk Protector Swiftflight is indeed the most powerhungry. Like Shadowlight and Deep Luck, she will do anything to win. Unlike them, however, every move she makes is carefully planned to bring her more power. Swiftflight is assigned to watch over the Mercenaries, as she thoroughly believes in strategy and periodically rallies the Mercenaries in order to achieve her own ends. She resents Moonstorm and is quite a troublemaker. She cannot be trusted and despite her great abiltly to persuade, all are advised to avoid her. She is able to hypnotize for short periods.
To gain a more extensive knowledge of The Protectors and The Forests of Fate in general, it would be beneficial to observe FoF Version One. This contains the archives and the very beginnings of the RPG (The forging of the alliances, battles, etc).
