| Jim is a blacksmith who lives in Takilma. He says "Once it (the knapweed) is gone I will do anything to keep it gone. This is my tax dollars at good work." Jim contributes to the project in many ways, he has repaired tools for the FAC weed crew, and he also gets out and digs up knapweed along with the crew whenever they come out his way. Jim has been planting native grasses on his property as the knapweed is pushed back. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Joanna is creating a permiculture system on her land- landscaping with herbs and food producing plants. To do this she has to be able to have some control of what plants grow on her land, and invasive weeds adversely effect her ablity to self-determine plant species. The landowner is working to control knapweed that is on her land. This landowner is also planting a hedgerow along Takilma Road to slow the spread of knapweed onto her land and BLM lands behind her. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Walt likes a manicured lawn and neat flowerbeds. He has been mowing his front yard, keeping the knapweed from seeding and thus spreading further into his property as he slowly gets a handle of his knapweed problem. He is thankful of the FAC work and he comes out and says "Thanks" every time he sees the weed crew on the road. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kate is an avid gardener and she has a large vegetable garden in her backyard where once only knapweed grew. This landowner has been working hard digging up knapweed on her property. She is grateful for the work the weed crew controlling the knapweed along the public side of the road so that it does not reinfest her property. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Margaret is part of the FAC weed crew and she does weed control in her spare time as well. "You can't do this kind of work and then drive past invasive weeds on the way home and not do something about them" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Suzanne is the FAC Weed Program coordinator, "It is really exciting to be working on this project. A lot of folks in the Takilma area have tried in the past to control knapweed with limited results. They had become discouraged and they are now experiancing a renewed enthusiasm when they see the results of the FAC Weed Program sites. People are now coming out of the woodwork calling our office and contacting our weed crew out on the road to ask for advice on weeding techniques so they can become more effectual. They now see that thier work is part of a larger effort, a piece of the bigger picture of knapweed control and that they can make a difference. It feels good to be able to help the landowners and the community, while protecting native plant species in our region." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
