death's living breath
     by: markus

What if I were fell to death,
A death so far away unmet,
Unto the earth so dark and sadly,
Fall into Death's arms so gladly,
Buried six feet down so soundly,
     To forever sleep?

Would thou come just gently rapping,
     Rapping on my casket tapping
Tapping as if thou to 'wake some soul,
     A soul so sleeping gladly
Would thy cry forever madly,
     Mad that I hath feign?

Death may not be end to all,
Upon the planar realm so small,
Yet Death might be beginning for some
     Stranger soul of other sounds?
Would Death then be a life another
To be found and go around?

Might then Death be not beginning
Yet at the same time unending,
To some untold story of some magnitude
     We hath not found,
Everlasting stories of some
     Greater dreamer's crown?

Would you look for lost Lenore
     Or Raven of that nevermore,
Or would thou face thyself in mirrors
     That reflected all abound;
These mirrors showing every facet
     Of imperfect human gown?

Would thou look inside for answers,
     Seeking soul for deeper cancers
Wilst thou look upon ye' brethren for
     For unsung advice they sound,
Seeking not the wants of ye
     Unknown where thou art bound?

Would thou cry alone once more
In distant land where never more
Shall thou see soul of any other
     Due to life's undending bounds,
Would thou face the dark ahead
     Not seeking fluffy ground?

Be not 'fraid of darker beings
Though the dark ones start a'singing
"Death to all!" their battlecry
To make those shudder all around,
Courage ye with greater good
Have no fear of these bounds.

Death is there alone you face
A wall of faceless wrathful case
Alone you stand, alone you fight
     For distant dreaming lands,
You vanquish Death to death once more
     Beginning life anew.

Cycles round once more again
You stand alone and then relent
To having made decision sent
Above your head to heaven meant,
You fall again to Death once more,
     Soundly sleeping, evermore.
