Forest Hills Fire Company is 100% volunteer organization which is a part of the Coal Township Fire Department.  Station 160 is located on Route 225 between Shamokin and Trevorton.  The Coal Township Fire Department contains 6 Fire Engines, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Special Unit, and 1 QRS Unit. 

The Forest Hills Fire Co. covers over a 3 mile radius of highway and many square miles of residential and unoccupied land on the Trevorton Road of Coal Township.  Engine 161 also responds to the surrounding Coal Township area, which has a population of 10,628 people.   Part of our primary coverage includes the Mountain Veiw Manor, located on Route 225, which houses over 200 elderly residents.  Engine 161 also responds mutual aid to numerous municipalities, but most often to Trevorton and Shamokin, which are the two closest municipalities to Coal Township. 
                                                     Our engine is a 1992 Chevy/KME Commercial Pumper, with a Hale 1250 gallon per minute pump and a 1000 gallon tank.  The engine is equipped with 1100 feet of 5 inch supply hose and 400 feet of 3 inch hose, which 200 feet can be utilized as a blitz line.  There is a total of 6 preconnected attack lines.  They are as follows:  Crosslays are 150 feet of 1 3/4 inch attack line and 200 feet of 1 3/4 inch attack line both equipped with TFT pistol grip combination nozzles.  From the rear of the engine is 200 feet of 2 inch attack line that is equipped with a TFT pistol grip smooth bore nozzle, 200 feet of 2 1/2 inch blitz line equiped with a TFT combination nozzle, and 125 feet of 1 3/4 inch trash line equipped with a TFT combination nozzle.  The newest addition is an Augustus piercing nozzle with 56 feet of hose.  This tool is used mostly for the extinguishment of vehicle fires.

The engine is also equipped with "Wet Water", 3% and 6% AFFF foam, a hand held heat gun, HB-4 Night Vision Binoculars with built-in Illuminator for night time searches, a TAC Stick, which is used to locate electricity in a structure or at a vehicle accident with wires down, Basic Life Support medical equipment for use if the engine should arrive on the scene of any type of emergency first and there is an injury, or if a firefighter should become injured on any type of scene.

We are also equipped with an air chisel, die grinder, a 4 ton Porta Power, 2 ton hand winch, 2 ton jack, Stoke's Basket with 4 point harness, Reeve's Sleeve, backboard, Milwaukee Reciprocating Saw, Craftsman Power Drill, Standard and Metric wrenches, socket sets, and a chainsaw, "The Wild Thing".  

Plus numerous forcible entry tools and ventilation tools, Hazardous Material equipment, seven-500 Watt portable lights that are powered by a portable 5,000 Watt generator, a landing zone kit to land LifeFlight, which is the closest air ambulance responding from Geisinger Medical Center located in Danville, PA.
