* StarPath *

Anasazi. A noble and peaceful people. A People of the Stars. Starborn.

And so it came to be that a Native race in the American Southwest was established and settled for a specified span of time. Knowledge was theirs, for their blood heritage coursed in metered time with the rhythmic movements of the far constellation from whence they came.

Wisdom was theirs. The heavenly aspects, naturally being a major concern in their lives, were fully integrated into their daily life and dominated the People's traditional ceremonies.

From the corner of your eye you see a movement, and you turn your head to see old Saa-qu-ya smiling softly in your direction. Saa-qu-ya is an old one, wise beyond her many years on this earth, for even her spirit is an ancient of days. Her skin is browned and furrowed, her long hair white as snow, but when she speaks her eyes flash with lightning and her words are to be heeded, each word chosen and spoken with care. She is one of the few in her tribe with blue eyes, and her nickname, because of that, is Summer Sky. She tells you as softly as the winds blowing: There is a path, my young one, a path for knowledge, and it is governed by the celestial bodies which walk across the star path in the sky. These differing aspects have been connected with some months by more modern peoples, but do not necessarily connect with the months, but more with the changing aspects of sky, water and earth. You must listen, and you must learn, to make your own path more clear.

I will tell you of each path, or you may read the markings on the rock face which tell of the moons in which these paths are strongest:

~~~Moon of Big Changes~~~
~~~Talking Wind Moon

Strawberry Moon

The Strawberry Moon, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Spiritual Father and the ruling ancestor Waa-pu, and the planet Mercury. It usually occurs in the modern months of May or August. Its Anasazi name is * Aa-nu-qu-taa *

You ask, --What is Mercury's influence on the human personality according to the ancients?

During the time of Waa-pu's strongest influence, the wise one would counsel people of the tribe who came to her with an inner restlessness. She would advise them to calm their sudden onset of wanderlust by centering on the importance of family and home, and to participate more often in the many community activities available to them. In this manner their feelings of boredom would dissipate.

The wise one knew that, during the season of Aa-nu-qu-taa, many were afflicted with a critical temperament, and she frequently had to be the impartial negotiator to settle disagreements or be the wise sounding board for individuals with internal conflicts.

Moon of Big Changes

The Moon of Big Changes, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Dream Giver and the ruling ancestor Mee-yaa-nu , and the planet Venus. It usually occurs in the modern months of April or September. Its Anasazi name is * Nu-raa-taa *.

You ask, --What is Venus' influence on the human personality according to the ancient ones?

The wise one found few clients to counsel during the time of Mee-yaa-nu, for the planet tended to emit a calming influence that brought about a wonderful sense of belonging to the people. She saw how content most of them were. She loved the atmosphere of human love and generosity that flowed between the clan members...Yet the season of Nu-raa-taa did not leave her idle. People still came to her because Mee-yaa-nu's calming effect sometimes confused one's ability to remain strong in respect to chosen life goals. Tribe members were often overcome with a nonchalance they neither understood nor liked.

Talking Wind Moon

Talking Wind Moon , old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Ancient Warrior and the ruling ancestor Qu-say-u, and the planet Mars. It usually occurs in the modern month of March. Its Anasazi name is * Yu-aa-nu-taa *.

According to the formal way of speaking at learning time, you ask, --What is Mars' influence on the human personality according to the ancient ones?

She nods her head and answers: The wise one was busy during Qu-say-u's Talking Wind Moon season. Her clients mainly consisted of those tribe members who were faced with obstacles found along their life paths. Those People were of strong constitution and needed advice on how to overcome these frustrating difficulties that appeared to hamper their forward progression...During this season of Yu-aa-nu-taa, the wise one was also visited by those who were themselves wise but thirsted for deeper understanding.

White Woman Moon

White Woman Moon, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Provider and the ruling ancestor Quaa-qu , and the planet Jupiter. It usually occurs in the modern month of December. Its Anasazi name is * Maa-ee-tay-taa *.

What is Jupiter's influence on the human personality according to the ancient ones?

The White Woman Moon of December was the season the wise one loved best. It was druing this Maa-ee-tay-taa season that all the Anasazi elders gathered in her quarters to discuss the deeper spiritual and esoteric concepts of their star heritage. It was a wonderful time of sharing. It was regarded as the time for recounting and preserving the sacred knowledge of their distant ancestors...Quaa-qu imparts an influence that intensifies the desire for knowledge, and so it was that the wise ones naturally gathered to speak of such things when the White Woman Moon shone down round and cold from the December nights.

Moon of Many Fires

Moon of Many Fires, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Wise One and the ruling ancestor Saa-qu-ya, and the planet Saturn. It usually occurs in the modern month of November. Its Anasazi name is * Raa-qu-taa *.

What is Saturn's influence on the human personality according the the ancients?

Those who visited Saa-qu-ya during the time of Raa-qu-taa needed advice regarding their high level of ambition. These people were driven by an inner drive to accomplish all tasks and goals to perfection. This resulted from their trait of strong responsibility, which often caused them inner conflicts...The wise one counseled them, cautioning them to refrain from taking their responsibilities too far and interfering in the personal lives of others.

Wolf Moon

Wolf Moon, Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Philosopher and the ruling ancestor Kaa-nu , and the planet Uranus. It usually occurs in the modern month of January. Its Anasazi name is * Tay-ee-taa *.

What is Uranus' influence on the human personality according to the ancient ones?

Tay-ee-taa, the Wolf Moon of January, would find Saa-qu-ya counseling her tribe members who were viewed as the free thinkers. These represented a broad scope of psychological aspects, for they extended to the far reaches of the issue...

Some came to the wise one with innovative ideas and concepts...eager to hear her opinion and seeking her acceptance. Yet there were also those who were full of burning concerns that revealed their inner doubts of traditional beliefs. Some of the latter ones were pained to be experiencing such open skepticism and it added to their confusion for a time. Such was the influence of the planet Kaa-nu.

Moon of Long Counts

Moon of Long Counts, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Magic Giver and the ruling ancestor Aaqu-waa, and the planet Neptune. It usually occurs in the modern month of February. Its Anasazi name is * Taa-yaa-nu *.

You ask, --What is Neptune's influence on the human personality according to the ancients of the People?

The wise old woman stands and stretches, advises you to do the same. When all is still again, she tells you, --Walk with me.-- and as you walk, she tells you more---The Moon of Long Counts--This was the season the wise one expected more visits from the younger ones, especially the bright youth who were learning the tribe's esoteric knowledge. Because of their young age they had a highly sensitive emotional nature. Their egos were fragile aspects of their blooming personalities...Taa-yaa-nu, the Moon of Long Counts, imparted heightened sensitivity to these young seekers of knowledge, and the wise one had her hands full as she counseled them. Guiding their frequently overfilled minds was a difficult task that she managed with much love and patience.

Cold Moon

Cold Moon, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Healer and the ruling ancestor Yo-naa, and the planet Pluto. It usually occurs in the modern month of October. Its Anasazi name is * Mee-ee-taa *.

What is Pluto's influence on the human personality according to the ancients?

Saa-qu-ya counseled an increased number of budding intellectuals during the season of Mee-ee-taa. The October Cold Moon enhanced the inquisitiveness of many minds. This influence brought about a deeper comprehension of concepts for many of the People.

They would become the Wise One's students and acolytes, for their keen perception and their analytical abilities were enforced early on in their lives. The influence of Yo-naa inhanced these intellectual traits to the point of making these students stand out and cleaim their life direction.

Moon of Thirsty Ground

The Moon of Thirsty Ground, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by Eternal Grandmother and the ruling ancestor Qu-nu, and the Sun. It usually occurs in the modern month of July. Its Anasazi name is * Taa-qu-aa-pu * .

You smile and ask--What is the Sun's influence on the human personality according to the ancients?

Old Saa-qu-ya nods and smiles at your eagerness to learn, and tells you that the influence of the sun is very strong and can be felt by many people at differing times. She says, --Taa-qu-aa-pu was the season when the sun imparted its greatest force. In Qu-nu (July) the wise one advised her people against being overly optimistic, for logic and wisdom needed to be used also in their bright perceptions.....Saa-qu -ya also counseled those of the clan who were extroverts. These required words of admonishment to temper their excessive energies and exuberance, frequently a source of irritation to the others of the clan.

Moon of Many Gifts

The Moon of Many Gifts, old Saa-qu-ya says, is governed by the Spiritual Mother and the ruling ancestor Naa-yu, and the Moon. It usually occurs in the modern month of June. Its Anasazi name is * Su-aa-ee-taa *.

You inquire, -- What is the Moon's influence on human personality according to the ancient ones?

She answers, --That also varies, like the two sides...

Bright Side: Saa-qu-ya saw people whose empathetic nature had been emphasized during the time when the Moon of Many Gifts showed its bright side. To these, freindships and family were extremely important aspects of their lives; therefore the concern for some was a high priority. The empaths were also blessed by the Su-aa-ee-taa season by being gifted with a higher degree of determination that served to grant these people a greater measure of perseverance.

The Dark Side: During the faceless Naa-yu phase, the wise one counseled those people troubled with a combination of nonchalance and a restlessness to begin new projects or proceed with goals. These people frequently had the additional tendencies to overwork themselves and to have intolerance for others. The wise one cautioned them to remember the importance of others and to refrain from centering solely on their own paths in deference to others along the way.
