Club membership is growing again, and not only are current member's cars getting better, but new members are joining with cars that are up and running - coming into summer, there's plenty to take part in with our cars. The Alexandra run will have been and gone by now, with a good contingent of SC cars taking part.
Next up will be the Car Show at Alpine Energy Stadium, then All Ford Day in Christchurch, Fairlie at New Year, and Easter will be here before we know it.
Helpers are required for the Car Show, and we need a load of wood arranged for the raffle - please contact me if you can help. Anyone knowing of any interesting cars that could be displayed at the show please contact Eric Scott.
Great to see so many people at our last meeting, we always get a good turnout for the size of the Club, but September was an exception - see you all at the October meeting!
Take care.

PRESIDENT
Another busy month, with the web site starting to get more hits, at the moment it's averaging about 5 per day.
I recently had an email from the UK MkI Club who are in the process of setting up a site and they have linked it to ours. I have their postal address if anyone is interested in getting in touch with them.
Alice & I were unable to go on the Alexandra run due to a prior engagement - our daughter's wedding in Christchurch... no prizes for guessing what the Bridal party's cars were! -

Thanks again to everybody who has helped with items for the magazine this month, your contributions are much appreciated.

A big thank-you to all our members who have paid their subs - and that is just about everybody!
We currently have 46 paid-up members, and there are only 2 outstanding, they are out of town members who may be be renewing their membership.
So, once again, thanks!
We have also had a great influx of new members over recent months, and a new membership list will be out shortly.
The latest members to join are:
Russell Paul, Ross Mark, Stephen Rouse, Ron Hanson, Norm Bunt, John Lilley
Welcome to you all, and remember, you only get out of a club what you put in! We have great runs and social get-togethers so please join in. The club isn't only about cars, it's about people - the cars are just the common catalyst.
Enjoy the club!

Secretary/Treasurer
There has been a good response from our own club members, fifteen of whom have already registered for the Convention. This is a good number to date but I still urge all members to get their registrations in as soon as possible.
The Convention logo has been finalised and was shown to our club members at the September club meeting. The logo is to be used for Convention car badges, on trophies and on printed material including a Convention T shirt - so it will be well displayed.
The committee are now very busy working on trophy sponsorships, general sponsorships, the social programme, displays, transport (buses that is!), and all the other things that are really starting to happen now.
Over 60 vehicle registrations have so far been received and those have been asked to check their information to ensure its accuracy so that our records are 100% correct.
The return of your completed Registration Form just as soon as possible would really help.

Purchased about two years ago in Ashburton, where it had spent all it's life, Phil's ute was supposedly in a ready to paint condition, but this was found to be not quite true.
It was decided that the ute would be just the vehicle to take to the '97 International in Rotorua, which was 10 weeks away, so work started in
earnest.
It was completely stripped down to the bodyshell, which was delivered to the panel shop on a 6x8 trailer, for the bodywork to be done properly.
The interior was completely re-upholstered, and all the mechanicals
rebuilt.
Accessories were sourced from various places - mag wheels from Christchurch, driving lights and wing mirrors were already on hand from swap
meets.
Eventually, after a lot of long nights, it was eventually finished at 2am the day they were leaving for Rotorua..... the effort being rewarded with second place in the MkII Ute section.
It also won "Best of the West" at the All Ford Day in Westport last
year.
Phil joined SCZZEC about 5 years ago after buying a MkIII, and currently owns 2 MkIII Zephyrs, a MkIII Zodiac, MkIII Zephyr 4, MkII Station Wagon, MkII Zephyr & Zodiac, MkI convertible, "and a few others for wrecking".
