Phil Rooke's Mk II Zephyr Utility |
.It was completely stripped down to the bodyshell, which was delivered to the panel
shop on a 6x8 trailer, for the bodywork to be done properly. The interior was
completely re-upholstered, and all the mechanicals rebuilt. Accessories were sourced from various places - mag wheels from Christchurch, driving lights and wing mirrors were already on hand from swap meets. Eventually, after a lot of long nights, it was eventually finished at 2am the day they were leaving for Rotorua..... the effort being rewarded with second place in the MkII Ute section. It also won "Best of the West" at the All Ford Day in Westport last year. Phil joined SCZZEC after buying a MkIII, and currently owns 2 MkIII Zephyrs, a MkIII Zodiac, MkIII Zephyr 4, MkII Station Wagon, MkII Zephyr & Zodiac, MkI convertible, "and a few others for wrecking" |

Purchased in Ashburton, where it had spent all it's life, Phil's ute was supposedly
in a ready to paint condition, but this was found to be not quite true. It was decided that the ute would be just the vehicle to take to the '97 International in Rotorua, which was 10 weeks away, so work started in earnest |
