Colin & Janice Chambers' MkI Zephyr |
Colin heard Jaquie Yarrall mention that she had seen a MkI for sale in a dealers
yard in Christchurch. Colin and Janice thought it sounded interesting, and decided there was no harm in having a look at this one.... where have we heard that before?... and headed off to Christchurch. The Zephyr was proudly displayed on the lot next to a $65,000 BMW, and they both thought the Mk I was the better looking car. |
With four previous owners, it was first registered in Christchurch, moved to Otematata
for a while, and eventually returned to it's home city. Having covered 142,000
miles, it was in very original condition, having had a repaint, and some
minor upholstery repairs. Needless to say, they managed to let the salesman sell
it to them! Since they have owned it, the only work needed has been a replacement gearbox seal, the car has been used only for local runs and shows, and runs perfectly. Colin says there is nothing that needs doing to it, apart from maybe the addition of some wheel trims, and that he has no intention of selling it. |
