We may have had a rest over the last few months, but it's now all go.
You will see by the coming events that there is plenty to do, and even if you
can't take the Z car, take your other wheels and try to be there.
There appears to be five of us going to Dunedin at Easter so far, if you are thinking of going, give me a call and I'll give you all the details.
10th Anniversary plans are well under way, do make an effort to attend as it is something special, and it will be a pretty good weekend I can assure you.
The date again - Queen's Birthday Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June, finishing early Monday.
AGM is fast approaching, please call me or any of the Committee if you want to get involved, there is always plenty to do - just inquire.
See you soon,
John Hull.
President
This is the first magazine I've done for a few months, my thanks to John, Glenis, Jacqui and all the others who have filled in for me.
Because of work and other commitments I have decided that I will have to stand down as Editor at the next AGM, so if you think you would like to take on the job please phone myself or John, and we will explain what is involved. I would be more than willing to help any new Editor initially, and maybe give ongoing assistance if they feel it would help.
Dave Barnes, who is the UK MkIII Club's magazine Editor will be visiting NZ for 2 weeks at the end of March. He will be in Timaru for the weekend of the 1st April and looks forward to meeting as many of our members as possible. He would like to go to the Winchester Swap Meet, so if anyone is able to give him a lift please contact me.
The club web site is still attracting interest from around the world, and is getting about 70 visits a week. There is also an Internet mailing list at http://www.egroups.com devoted to discussion on all Zephyr related matters, with 37 members from NZ to Canada, Denmark and Finland.

The SCZZEC Flag was flown by Eric, Laurie and Alan from Timaru, and Geoff and Bill from Ashburton.
It was a very enjoyable and interesting day, with the diverse range of vehicles on display - from early Veteran/Vintage to custom built cars.
The couple of downpours of rain were appreciated by most, as we were given a free car wash without dipping into the back pocket.
The day day was not dampened by the rain, as Eric's yarns of yesteryear, which were interesting and entertaining, well made up for this.

Now, remembering the country and animal, go to the end of the magazine
Once upon a time, in a land far away, a beautiful, independent, self assured Princess, happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.
The frog hopped into the Princess' lap and said:
"Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome Prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.
One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young Prince that I am
and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in yon castle with my Mother,
where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel
grateful and happy doing so."
That night as the Princess dined sumptuously on a repast of lightly sauted frogslegs, seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled to herself and thought....
"I don't fucking think so..."
Over the past few years there has been a lot if discussion, mostly in the written media, over
the number of vehicles in use throughout the world.
Here in NZ we have a large number of motor vehicles, and with Governments under
pressure to cut pollution and oil usage you can well expect the pressure to come sooner
rather than later.
If it is not easy now for the powers that be to check on how often a vehicle is or is not
used, there are a number of ways that it could easily be done.
Strong rumours have it that the vehicles used during the recent APEC Conference had a tracking device fitted that traced their every move, right down to recording the time that they were not in use. Every metre they travelled and their actual position was recorded. Part of the object of the exercise was to test the equipment, is it possible that these devices could be fitted to all private cars sometime in the future?
You will hear more.....

You are thinking of Denmark and a kangaroo...........
Spooky Eh?
If you were thinking of something else, you are among the 2% of people who see things entirely differently, and are probably a little weird.... :)
