Our AGM has been and gone, and we had another good turnout. Thank you for attending, and for your input.
As some of you already know, the only change on an executive level is the position of Magazine Editor
-
Mike Constantine has taken over. He offered to stand approx. six weeks ago after he saw the notice in the mag.
Mike has a vast knowledge of vehicles, particularly British, and has access to quite a variety of articles through his business and hobby interests. Among other contacts he spends time on the Internet.
Already Mike has accumulated some articles for future issues, so please support Mike with any articles that you think may be of interest.
As you are all aware, the Mag is a most important part of any Club.
Thank you to all who supported me once again.
Thank you very much also to all the Committee who support me as President.
With so many events planned for the next 12 months we will again be full on.
Happy and safe motoring.
John Hull
PRESIDENT
It wasn't until I got home after the AGM that it dawned on me what I had done..... did I really volunteer to produce the magazine? well, you had your chance to stop me......
First I would like to thank Glenis for all the work she has put into organising the mag for the last few years, and also for the help she has given to bring me up to speed on how it's done.
You will have noticed a few layout changes in this edition, with the pages being printed on computer.
I hope to be able to continue to produce it in this way, but this will depend on the availability of a suitable printer, as the one I am using has been borrowed from my daughter, and she is unreasonably insisting that I return it.
If anybody knows where I can beg, borrow or steal an ink-jet printer for one evening a month, please let me know.
I have a few ideas for some new sections for the magazine, but any ideas are welcome, please keep your eyes open for anything you think would be suitable.... if you find something interesting, the chances are that other members will too.
We are in the process of setting up a web site for the Club on the Internet, at present it is a temporary page, with some MkIV photo's (what else!) the URL for those with 'net access is: http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/garage/7266/
The layout is not the format of the finished site, and we hope eventually to have photo's of member's cars there and club news etc.

EDITOR
How many Club members can claim to have had a Zephyr of their own continuously since 1955? - Doug Ussher can!
In 1955 he was promoted to the position of NMA Export Manager for NZ. This new position entailed extensive travel between Company Branches - he was currently driving a 1949 Morris Minor Lo-Lite, which he considered unsuitable for covering the extra miles.
NMA's Timaru machinery salesman was the driver of a near new MkI Zephyr with just 30,000 miles on the clock, and Doug bought it.
He drove this MkI full-time until the MkII became available, when he bought a red and white beauty, brand new, from Hutchinson Motors in Christchurch.
At that time he felt that his MkII was just the ultimate, but however, on the 29th October 1964 he bought his present MkIII, brand new, and it has served him faithfully for the last 34 years.
Consequently his MkIII is a very rare one "original" owner car, and it attracts a lot of interest. It has never been pampered, having towed a trailer, horse float, caravan, and used for carting stock etc. it was also fitted with a roofrack that was used to carry his flat-bottomed flounder boat, oars and nets etc. on holiday when his children were young.
Doug is looking forward to taking part in next year's International Convention in Timaru, with his MkIII.
Doug says the car he should have kept was his first - a 1926 Singer Sports Coupe, complete with fold-down hood, folding dickie seats and solid disk wheels - where is it now?
