Customized Model Horses

Beginning with a model horse such as a plastic Breyer
model, I can create a lifelike 3D model for display or collecting
purposes.  Virtually any pose is possible.  the plastic is heated,
shaped, cut, wired together, filled or crushed, as needed
and then all of the horses muscling and structure is rebuilt
according to his new pose.  They are then sanded
and prepared for painting, all holes and cracks are filled
and smoothed, the ears, nostrils, and hooves are carved out
for realism, the correct genitalia is added, and veining,
chestnuts, etc. are added.

The models are painted using any combination of  sprays,
airbrush, acrylics, oils, oil pastels, colored pencils and inks
until the desired finish is achieved.  a triple coat of matte sealer
is applied for protection and then the hooves, eyes, lips, and
nostrils are glazed for realism.  a lifelike hair mane and tail
(made to look realistic, not to be brushed and moved) may be
added instead of the plastic or sculpted ones.  a stained wooden
or epoxy base may be required for unstable poses (less than
3 feet touching the ground).  endless possibilities!

For those interested in model horse showing, I have been out
of the model ring (due to more time spent in the real show ring)
the past few years but my work has placed well photo and live,
and many of my models have NAMSHA qualified for the NAN.

Here are some Examples
