My 98 GT story

I have always like the GT models since I was 18 and had an 83 GT that ran low 13s in the quarter. But like so many other people, I got married and had Kids. So the car was not practical. I sold it and was sorry I did so from the second I seen the car drive off.
But I promised myself I would get another some day.
Well that day came in 1998 some 10 years after I sold the 83.
I stopped by a Local Ford Dealership and looked at a black 98 that was sharp, The design reminded me of my 70 Mach 1 alot.
Dealer #1 said it was a young guys car who couldnt afford the insurance and sold it after 800 miles.
Dealer # 2 said it was from a guy who had alzhiemers and did'nt know what he was doing and he bought it in Jacksonville?? I worried about the car because the dealers were shoving some horse manuer down my throat .
So I test drove it and opened the Glove box and the guy didnt buy it from from Jacksonville but actually the YOUNG guy bought it from Decatur.
I asked to see paper work so as to possibly purchase it.
They looked at my 22,000 mile 95 Mercury Mystique and came back and "offered me a deal" of 17.9% interest and 5,000 for my car!!!
I am a religious person but I really Let the Dealer know my true feelings.
(By the way the dealer was LANDMARK FORD).
I walked out and left with the dealer in tow and begging me to come back in. HAHA
I drove to Taylorville, Bob Ridings Ford and Talked to a Manager who said he would do a search for me and see what he could find and call me in the morning.
The next morning he called and had found me my car in Highland IL. I drove to his lot and filled out the paper work. He then put me in a car, Bought me lunch, and drove me to the other dealership 2 hours away.
I drove the car for about 2 minutes and new this was my car.
So I drove back to Bob Ridings and signed the paper work and got a rate of 6.9% interest.
From here on out I will travel the 40 minutes to deal with them instead of 5 minutes to Landmark.
The car is Awesome in every way!
I am now spending money on moding the car they way I think it should have come from the factory.
I have already taken 3 trophys in 3 shows as well, and will hopefully get more in the future.
If you have made it this far, thanks for reading another mustangers "how it came to be" story.
Kevin
