My 70 Mustang story

My Friend Jeff Viele was the main person who really introduced me to Mustangs.
One day he told me of a 70 Mach 1 in Chatham IL. that was $1800.00.
We drove to see it after school in 1984 (We were Juniors)
As soon as we turned the corner and I saw the car I had a gut feeling that it was mine.
It had side pipes and big 50 series Firestones with Centerlines. In the engine sat a 302 w/ 351 heads and was pretty quick (as time would tell, I was undefeated except for a 69 429 Mach and a Plymouth Fury w/NOS).
It even pulled the front wheels off the ground when I goosed it a few times in first gear!
Next to My future car sat a Boss 302 for $500.00 but needed work .I wish I would have purchased it!!
We agreed on a price of $1500.00 and I had a new car
(Thanks Mom)
Over the next few years many a good time was had on the strip. I met and made many friends.
I did learn a major lesson one night while racing.
I ran from a cop who just thought I had a loud muffler. I got away but then hit a pole ($100.00 damage)
The cop seen me after scowering the area for me and when he found me he beat the sh_t out of me.
I threaten a lawsuit and we went to Court and after 6 months they dropped all charges as did I.
This was before the Rodney King thing so I wasn't money hungry and I always wonder if I should have gone for more.
