The Fallacy of Instant Gratification

            […]

Through the specific thoughts, actions, and words of Bernard, John, and Linda, Huxley raises the question, “is there such a thing as too much?” He uses contrast between these individual characters and the brave new world’s mainstream society to enlighten the reader of his telling message. Huxley wants his readers to see and reflect upon the consequences and implications of happiness when taken to the extreme; he ultimately proposes that instant gratification is of transitory value, and overindulging in inherent desires deprives one of a truly content and meaningful life.
