Express your doubts, objections, and skepticism about the evidence presented in the essay you’ve selected for essay one. You are expected to identify each type of evidence employed and measure it against the STAR criteria: Sufficiency, Typicality, Accuracy, and Relevance. (Note that not all criteria are relevant to all forms of evidence… recall as well that there’s little point commenting on relevance unless evidence doesn’t seem relevant). You must not simply assert judgments about evidence, you must, more importantly, justify your opinions. For instance, were you to allege that an example isn’t typical, you’d have to explain what seems odd or atypical about the example and, ideally, to explain what details example would need to seem typical.
