Though we won’t be writing a proposal essay (higher order claim) for
our second essay, it’s important to see how claims work together to create a hybrid argument. Create an outline of a
hybrid argument wherein you argue a proposal claim and use subarguments/reasons
representing each claim type to support it (with the exception of a proposal
claim of course). First, write out claim at the top of your journal page, then
below claim list each claim type (Definitional, Causal [Cause or Consequence], Resemblance,
and Evaluation)
and the actual claim—follow the layout on page 206; however, make sure to write
out your four subarguments/reasons as complete sentences in the form of questions
or assertion. If you cannot devise a reason for one of the claim types, you may
write two reasons under a different claim type; however, you may only use this
dispensation once.
