Paraphrase the entire 7th ¶ on NN’s editorial on page 511. In
paraphrasing, it’s essential that you not only use your own words but that you
also avoid borrowing/mimicking the writers’ syntax/grammatical structure. You are
welcome to use quotation in your paraphrase, but limit such to only one or two
phrases/clauses. Open your paraphrase with an attributive tag that “shapes
reader’s response,” in other words, that gives reader some notion of the
authority/credibility of the authors. You should find sufficient information in
the excerpt written by our textbook’s authors. Make sure to end your paraphrase
with page number enclosed in parentheses. Please note that you’ll NOT have
reason to paraphrase such a long passage in your own essays—the goal of this
journal is to strenghthen your ability to put other’s ideas and evidence into
your own words.
