Ed and Brigeta's 1935 Ford Coupe
"Performing a Public Service"
Several years ago while hunting, Ed saw this Ford coupe resting comfortably on a Dakota prairie. He asked the owner of the land (and the coupe) if he could buy the car. The owner declined saying that someone else was "going to fix it up" (where have we heard that before?). Sometime later, Ed saw the owner at a casino and again offered cash for the coupe. The owner turned him down again. However, later the owner approached Ed and asked if he still had the cash (he must not have been too lucky at the machines). Ed did. The deal was struck. Ed excitedly travelled to pick up the coupe. His memory of the coupe's actual condition did not match his second view of the coupe. Since this is a family site, I cannot print his thoughts expressed verbally. Because of his resolve and determination outweighed only by his stubborness (and an understanding wife), the coupe was built. They saved the old iron from the politician's roving crusher (hence, their public service) so that we could enjoy the fruits of their long, and sometimes difficult, labor.
The coupe is powered by a tuneport injected 350 Chevrolet with a 700R4 overdrive transmission hooked to a Maverick 8" rear. This black beauty has power steering and brakes, AC, tilt, cruise, and electric windows and seats. Cooper tires are mounted on American Racing wheels. Body modifications include a 2" chop, frenched license plate, and a specially fitted '40 Ford dash. This coupe is just another example of a northern prairie rod builder who can use his vision and talent to transform a hunk of rusty metal into a sleek, classy, and elegant machine.
The completed coupe. What an amazing transformation from the field car.
