Chapter 1: Neojiisu and Keiji Arrive at the Juin Continent
Tired of the countless senseless battles he'd been fighting, Neojiisu went to the Juin Continent, seeking asylum. Despite their hostile views towards outsiders, it was the only place he felt he'd be comfortable, where he could be sure he'd be isolated from any battles taking place elsewhere in the world. Along the way, he ran into the Guardian Tower, where he met Keiji. After hearing about Neojiisu's planned trip to Juin, Keiji decided to accompany him; he had some business to discuss with the Juin King about the nation's growing military. When the two reached the checkpoint outside the Juin Capital, the guards met them with a cold response, recognizing Neojiisu as the warrior who'd infiltrated their shores a few weeks earlier. Keiji also found out that the official he was looking for, Hiyatu, was executed for treason. The Royal Guards reluctantly took them to the palace, where they met the king.
During their conference with the king in his throne room, the King surprisingly granted Neojiisu asylum, secretly planning to use his techniques and stealth style in training a new special forces-- the Juin Infiltrators. Neojiisu was then sent on his first mission-- to kill Dark Chaos, who'd followed the two fighters there-- so the King could discuss with Keiji privately. The king revealed his ambitions to retake lost Juin lands. Keiji exhorted him to seek peaceful means, and warned him that he'd be keeping an eye on the situation.
For the next couple of days the two warriors went about their business on the continent. Keiji searched unsuccessfully for a Juin worthy of becoming the planet's next guardian. And then he met Saia Draco, who'd followed Keiji to the Juin shores, with a piece of the Celestial Sphere on her chest. Neojiisu and a team of Royal Guard repelled the evil triad of Dark Chaos, Dian Wei, and Magnus. He then faced another battle involving the masked warrior Skull Kid, Phalluce, Sanji, and Deandes. Sensing the intense powers fighting on the beaches outside the city, the King arrived to chastize his new servant.
A deceptive man, the King ordered all the fighters on the beach to follow him to a rock out to sea, for what they thought would be a normal tag-battle. Phalluce humbly presented himself as a potential servant, and the King took him in, glad to have a new tool to manipulate. Keiji, Neojiisu, and Phalluce fought against Sanji, Skull Kid, and Deandes, until the King revealed his true plan. For years the Juins had been running large Collector facilities (see Juin Tech), sapping energy released from the battles raging all over the planet. The King knew the Energy Storage Facilities were close to capacity, and this battle would provide enough powerful energy to fill them. When the time was right, the King ended the battle by ordering the activation of one of the Nullifier facilities, which released powerful disruptive waves that sapped fighters of their energy. The force of the wave knocked all of the fighters out, with the exception of Neojiisu, who was protected by his kinetic armor. The King ordered the navy to get the unconscious outsiders by dropping them on a distant continent, while Keiji and Phalluce were taken to a Juin Hospital.
Chapter 2: The Mangellan War Begins
Meanwhile, war began on the large continent to the north, where the nation of Mangels invaded two of its neighboring countries: Celena and Hilde. Mangellan engineers had succeeded in creating a weapon based on the ki attacks they observed used by fighters all over the globe. It was known as the ultrathermal ray, and it worked by firing a beam of concentrated heat energy. Armed only with traditional weaponry, the neighboring nations were defenseless against such a powerful weapon, which melted through bunkers, and cut through their tanks' armor with ease. At first, the world's five most powerful nations: Generica, Rainland, Alband, Pellonia, and Iysisia sat back, considering the war a regional affair not to get involved with, especially against an adversary with such powerful weaponry. But the invasion of Trent, a mountainous country famous for its coal mines and the world's formost diamond exporter, suddenly prompted the attention of greedy politicians. The Allied army rushed in immediately.
Unfortunately, even the most powerful nations in the world were no match for the Mangellans' ultrathermal technology. After months of stalemated fighting, Allied Forces suffered a major defeat at the battle of Saleen in Celena. And as they retreated, more bad news arrived. A secret submarine reconaissance squadron intercepted a Juin reconaissance task force in the Columbian Ocean en route to Mangels. The squadron was completely destroyed, and the task force arrived at Mangels flashing signals of friendship.
In a conference with his Regeants and Keiji, the Juin King announced they were going to war. General Regeant Dieter would lead the charge, and the Juins were out to retake the lands stolen from them hundreds of years earlier. Keiji warned the King again that there would be consequences for his actions, but he was dismissed, and he suddenly vanished from the conference.
Two days following the task force's arrival at Mangels, the Juin main fleet, under the command of Admiral Soto, would arrive. Mangel's King, King Angus II, laughed with excitement when he realized he had a new ally. Convinced his borders were safe, he redoubled his attacks, spreading his lines thin to consume even more territory. The world braced for the formation of an unholy alliance, and the end of the free world. General Sigurd, the most high commander of the Allied Forces, held a press conference to share the devastating news with the world. He sent out a plea to the world's fighters, convinced they were the only ones who could save them from the coming onslaught.
Chapter 3: A War on Four Fronts: The Mangellan Front
As the Juin Main Fleet arrived in the Gulf of Hernan and the ports of Mangels, a Mangellan welcoming fleet met them. The Mangellan ships flashed lights of friendship, and the Juin fleet shined a light back merely to acknowledge their presense. Admiral Soto ordered his fighters and transport planes to take off, and they flew towards Hilde in the east, dispelling the Mangellan's fears of a surprise attack. Believing all was well, the Mangellan admiral intertwined his fleet with the Juins. Then came Admiral Soto's true reply to the Mangellan's flashes of friendship. He ordered the fleet to open fire, and in one deafening volley of cannon fire, the Mangellan fleet was demolished. The Juin aircraft suddenly changed course and headed straight for the Mangellan ports, dropping bombs and airborne infantry onto the unsuspecting enemy. Soto's marines landed on shore, and the ports were seized in a matter of minutes. Two Mangellan columns, led by General Cabrio, responded quickly, only to be torn apart by Juin infantry, who could fly above the fire arcs of their tanks.
Two days later, the Juins reached Xunard, which was 75 miles inland. A dogfight between Mangellan jets and Juin Pocket Dragons was a slaughter. Not even the new ultrathermal technology could puncture the Juins' shields. Two lucky hits by anti-air artillery downed two of the Dragons, and flak cannons killed a few of the raining Airborne Infantry, but there was no hope for the city's defenders. Death poured onto the streets, where Juin soldiers cut down soldiers scrambling in the streets from rooftops.
With the air force leading the way, General Dieter's tanks rolled through the country unopposed, until they discovered a secret derset base disguised in the sand dunes. Ultrathermal artillery kept Dieter's force at bay for awhile, but the tanks blasted their way through, while air support arrived with heavy bombs. Infantry raided the underground bunker, which was the birthplace of ultrathermal weaponry. The Mangellan scientists destroyed their documents and sabotaged the base before leaving through a secret tunnel. By the time the Juin soldiers reached the main cavern, it was deserted, and a number of charges exploded, caving the roof in on the poor invaders. Yet of the fifty-five soldiers buried alive, fourty-seven emerged from the sand, a tribute to the strength of the Juin soldier.
A day later, Phalluce arrived on a mission from the king to examine the fighters who answered General Sigurd's call. He met with General Dieter briefly at his camp, before embarking to the Eastern Front.
General Dieter's army marched onto the stronghold town of Kandid, where a massive indestructable obelisk known as the Spire protected the town. General Helion was a military genius, and he was prepared for Dieter's blitz. As Juin Soldiers landed in the city, Mangellan soldiers suddenly ambushed them from secret hiding spots, and the city was soaked in blood from both sides. When Dieter himself arrived with his tanks, he desperately ordered his captains to fly into the city and rally the man. The tanks were then suddenly ambushed by artillery. After driving the Mangellans back into the spire, General Dieter suddenly ordered his men to withdraw. After a few moments of silence, General Helion witnessed the Juins' discipline as the entire army formed ranks 4 men abreast in a line stretching far back, with Dieter at the line's head. In a massive battle cry, the entire army glowed with energy, and an enormous ki beam leveled the spire in seconds, killing everyone inside.
The Juin Force reached the nearby capital at nightfall, and King Angus fled the city via a secret tunnel. In a symbolic gesture of Juin might, General Dieter ordered his men to perform another great blast that demolished the city in minutes, including the Great Spire, the King's palace. Dragons then swooped down from above, and the infantry charged in to mop up survivors, military and civilian alike. Through his secret tunnel, King Angus escaped to southern Mangels, and tried to flee across the border to Guinness. But as he and his guards emerged from the sand, they were ambushed by black-clad men wielding deadly glowing sabers. Making their first appearance, the Juin Infiltrators killed Angus's guards in a quick and vicious attack, and King Angus was taken prisoner.
Chapter 4: A War on Four Fronts: The Northern Front
After leaving the Juin continent enraged, Keiji was the first to answer General Sigurd's call for help. He met the Allied forces at Trent, led by Captain Solomon. Gabriel and Alykoth also arrived, and orders soon came from General Sigurd. During the war, the Mangellans invaded the mountainous country from the south, and had pushed the Allies out almost all the way to the northern border. The Allied army was stuck at the foot of the mountains, while the enemy controlled the heights. Sigurd ordered a full attack, and Keiji, Gabriel, and Alykoth saw their first action attacking the mines along the Dublin Pass. In a bloody battle that would have been a terrible defeat for the Allies without outside help, the three fighters were integral in scoring the victory. They charged up three sides of the mountain, as fire from the Mangellan's Ultrathermal Rays gave the mountain a hellaciously red aura. The beams cut through the rocks the allies were hiding behind, and sent boulders rolling down on them. Alykoth weeded out snipers and cleared the way for his men to take position in front of the large Mercha Coal Mine. Keiji singlehandedly captured 35 soldiers, including their tanks and heavy artillery. Gabriel led his men straight up the Dublin Pass, and was nearly killed by his own men when he stole an enemy uniform.
The Mangellans retreated into the mines, hoping to ambush the Allies in the narrow tunnels. The Allies struck with precision, and with Keiji, Alykoth, and Gabriel leading the way, the resistance buckled. Karius arrived mid-battle, searching for Keiji, and he fought bravely alongside the guardian. Captain Solomon's men infiltrated the command center, killing everyone in sight, only to discover a secret staircase leading to a mountain pass, where the rest of the Mangellans slipped away. With the enemy hot on their trail, the Mangellans regrouped into the heavily fortified Wellington Crater.
Wellington was the heart of Trent. Sitting in the crater of an inactive volcano, it was a typical coal mining town. But one day the humble miners uncovered a diamond vein deeper than anything ever seen before. From a simple coal base, it became the richest city in the world. To protect their fortune the government carved a sophisticated defense system into the crater walls. The impassible walls were formidible in themselves, and the crater was defended on all sides by a myriad of batteries. There were only two tunnels leading into the city, both heavily fortified. Each tunnel opening was flanked with bunkers, and barracks once used for miners now housed soldiers. Anti-Air emplacements and heavy artillery were constructed along the crater ridge. SAM sites were also built under some city intersections. When word reached the world that Mangels had sacked Wellington, everyone wondered how the mighty city could have fallen in a day.
General Molokov, leader over the Mangellan forces in the North, did not enter the crater at all. Rather than assault the fortress, his troops ravaged the surrounding country side and all of the innocent civilians living outside of the walls. Fearing slaughter and genocide, Trent's government capitulated, and left the crater without a fight. The Mangellans who now occupied the city would not leave so easily.
It took a daring Allied plan to retake the city, and Captain Samuel, who led the assault, put heavy faith in his new mystical warriors. Keiji, Alykoth, and Gabriel would fly around the mountain, destroying embedded artillery. With the artillery destroyed, bombers would pummel the forteress from above, followed by paratroopers. Captain Samuel would then lead his men straight up the mountain road to break into the entrance tunnel. Karius would sneak over to the road on the other side of the crater, sealing off the Mangellan's escape route.
Keiji's Day Boom Stain attack knocked off a number of emplacements with mighty winds. He gave the signal and the jets swooped in, blanketing the crater with bombs. Captain Samuel led his charging column of tanks in a beserker rage, while the enemy ambushed them from houses and behind trees in the densely wooded foothills. Then a suddenly ultrathermal blast ground the charge to a halt. There were blood curling screams of "MEDIC!!" and the victims ran in every direction, some burning, some burned, and some missing limbs. From the air, it looked like a wide swathe had been slashed from the earth with an ice cream scoop. All around there were fallen, burning trees and blackened rubble. Mangellan fighter jets arrived on scene, and locked the Allied aircraft in a brutal dogfight. The initial wave of paratroopers was also decimated by the defenders.
Back on the ground the tanks pushed forward. Nobody worried about the vehicles being destroyed around them, they were too worried about themselves. Everyone was shooting at everything in sight, and it was remincisent of when armies lined up in straight lines, simply shooting back and forth at close range. But this was on the move; it was hell and chaos. Buildings were burning and crumbling, men were burning and screaming. Corpses lined the streets. Fire went up into the air, where Keiji and his new opponent, Kain, were facing off. There was falling flak, a fog of smoke, and raining ash. As the charge moved up the mountain road, the Mangellans retreated back into the crater. Despite terrible casualties, the Allies slowly gained the upper hand. The battle was getting desperate for both sides.
Karius finally grew impatient, and he used his Starburst Dreamer technique to put parts Mangellan army to sleep, disobeying orders to hold his position. While his actions allowed a number of soldiers to escape, it gave Capt. Samuel the edge his soldiers needed to seal the victory. Trent was free.
Chapter 5: A War on Four Fronts: The Eastern Front
Hilde, on the Eastern Front was a theater of bloody jungle fighting. The Mangellans held back their Ultrathermal weapons from this front, knowing how easy it would be to trap themselves in a jungle of fire. But even with normal weapons the guerrilla style fighting was bloody. The war had grown so intense in the region that General Sigurd wanted to lead the campaign personally. And he brought along the powerful Saiyan, Gokan, with him. The superhero Captain Generica made his debut, and he had just returned from singlehandedly slaughtering an entire Mangellan camp when Sigurd and Gokan landed. The charismatic captain didn't waste any time in giving Gokan a "jungle tour" and within minutes of meeting each other, they were off attacking a Mangellan Sentry Point. They jumped from foxhole to foxhole, dodging bullets, and killing anything that moved. Miaku dropped in and joined the fight. Soon the jungle was quiet. Men lay scattered about the fighters in awkward positions. The machine guns were slumped over dead as well. The air was a mixture of mist and smoke. Captain Generica looked over at Gokan and Miaku, "That was easy, wasn't it?" There was a sudden beep on the communicator attached to his belt; he turned it on.
General Sigurd was leading an attack on Cao Cao village, but it turned into an ambush. The three flew to Cao Cao immediately as fast as they could, heading towards the smoke plumes in the distance. Out of nowhere, Generica and Miaku were shot down by flak, and Gokan dove into the trees after them. Bullets flew all around, and Allied soldiers charged out of the bushes only to disappear into more bushes. The ground rumbled with explosions. There was so much death it was as if the trees themselves were pouring blood. The Allies were pinned down in the thatched hut village, and the villagers were caught in the crossfire.
Jynsyng and Ratenks noticed the battle raging in the distance and honed in on the three strong powers they felt. Confusing the fighters for Juins, they attacked with unfounded prejudice. Just as a heated fight began between them hell broke loose. Sensing they were fighting a losing battle, the Mangellans pulled out their Ultrathermal rays and turned the thatched village into a blazing inferno. Captain Generica led the fighters in a heroic race to save the soldiers trapped in the village, while the Mangellans escaped. Realizing they were fighting the wrong side, Ratenks charged after the Mangellans. Jynsyng helped the Captain and Miaku in a daring plan to douse the village with water from a nearby lake. It failed and the fire exploded even more. Jynsyng screamed violently, forcing all his energy out blow out the fire like a birthday candle. He stood in the middle of a charred and empty city.
Leaving Gokan behind as he took on the evil Mangellan android Ryukeshin, Jynsyng, Ratenks, and Miaku followed Captain Generica in pursuit of the fast retreating enemy. The dragon-like warrior, Ace, appeared from nowhere and followed as well. Just as they crossed the border into the Mangellan desert, the retreating convoy was in sight. But snipers armed with stinger missiles stalled the fighters' charge. As the Captain dove in to tear them apart with his shield, he found himself surrounded by more men than expected, all carrying Ultrathermal weapons. Ratenk's Aurora Twister technique blew away the ambush in a single blast, and a similar mental technique from Ace wiped out more soldiers lying in wait on the road ahead.
Always big-headed, Captain Generica's head grew to gigantic size. He wasn't to be outdone on any level, and he chewed out the others for getting in the way when he "had the situation under control." He started flying off after the convoy again, not looking back if anyone was following, until Jynsyng yelled out that they were leaving. Generica did a 180, and struck his most dramatic superhero pose, yelling a rallying cry as his theme music played triumphantly. Jynsyng decided to stay-- but from now on, he would lead.
Chapter 6: A War on Four Fronts: The Western Front
After the Mangellan army sacked a peaceful town in Celena that Samyik and Hope were staying in, Samyik and Hope attacked their main base. They were met there by Sanji, the outlaw, and Dian Wei, who out to steal the Dragon Orbs from Samyik. Thirty specially-armored Mangellan soldiers also arrived, ready to attack. The Mangellan colonel ordered his men to open fire and Samyik and Hope put up their shields. Hope teleported behind the colonel, trying to warn him not to fight, but he replied with a blow to the back of her neck, knocking her out. The ground shook from Samyik's rage, and he shot off a Genku Dekie.
Meanwhile, Drakkar, his clothes still torn from his last battle with Samyik, was being attacked by the Mangellans in another part of the country. While locked in an aerial battle with their Air Force, he felt out Samyik's and Hope's powers and flew towards them. He went Super Saiyan, flying faster than ever towards the enemy base, with the air force in hot pursuit. When he got there, only half of the thirty soldiers were still standing, and the colonel had disappeared. He landed near Samyik and Hope and shielded them from an incoming missile. Drakkar offered a hand of friendship in the coming war, but Hope abhorred the idea of war, and Samyik didn't think he needed a Saiyan's help.
Gen. VonBroyer was the Allied commander in charge of the Western Front. His men were still regrouping from their horrible defeat by Baron Gristitch at Saleen when word reached them of a small group of fighters demolishing the Mangellan base. When the general heard this, he sent out a recon team to confirm the reports. They said it was true, and the General's army immediately drove towards the base.
At this time, the Mangellan colonel unleashed his advanced soldiers upon the attacking fighters. Samyik and Hope were taking cover behind a barrier Drakkar put up as protection. Hope couldn't stand seeing so much killing, and she tried to get Samyik and Drakkar to stop, but not even her tears were enough. Samyik embraced her and then teleported outside the barrier to attack the soldiers. Drakkar wanted to join him, but he was still protecting Hope; that's when Warrior appeared. Warrior took over holding up the barrier while Drakkar charged into action. In the fight, he was hit badly by an ultrathermal blast that left 3rd degree burns all over his side and half of his chest. The lava-like blast even melted away his left arm! Samyik quickly teleported the wounded Saiyan back behind the barrier, where Hope healed him. Dian Wei, Sable, and Samyik kept the fight going.
The battle was nearly over. The Mangellan colonel falsely believed that reinforcements would arrive to help him but he was mistaken. A fully-healed Drakkar tried to end the battle with a Spirit Bomb, but Samyik stopped him, warning him that the advanced soldiers' armor would absorb the energy-- the attack would only make them stronger. They had to beat them the "old-fashioned way." Sometime while powering up the Spirit Bomb, the evil blood within Drakkar began to take hold, and he went beserk. Out of bloodlust, he killed his friend Warrior. He was about to kill Hope when he returned to normal--and abruptly passed out. Suddenly, Allied troops poured into the area, mopping up any soldiers left standing.
General Thompson, another Allied commander, dismounted from his humvee to meet Samyik, Hope, and the now unconscious Drakkar. He thanked them for destroying the Mangellan army and begged them for more help to the end war. Later, after he'd healed, Drakkar would accept the offer, but Hope wanted no part in more killing, so she and Samyik left to find some place more peaceful. Thompson was disappointed that only one of the fighters would join him, but was still thankful to have any help at all.
(Author's Note: Somewhere in here, Drakkar had a crazy side-story involving a mad scientist. Some of it made no sense at all! I didn't feel it was relevant to the saga, so I didn't include it in the summary. If you're really curious though, it's on pages 8-9 of 'The Western Front.')
The break in the fighting didn't last. Before long, the latest tactical report came in, stating that the Mangellans who were fleeing from the base were passing through Yadi, a small farming community, and were ravaging everything in sight. Unfortunately, Yadi happened to be the town Hope and Samyik fled to to escape the fighting; once again they were in the thick of it. Mangellan reinforcements also arrived at Sobatown, which was less than an hour away from the base. Ther, Allied Premiere soldiers (scouts) were struggling to keep them out of the city while the residents fled, but the Mangellans' ultrathermal weaponry leveled every building the defenders tried to take cover in. The stree-to-street fighting was vicious, and the Mangellans showed no mercy to the few Allied soldiers standing in their way. Finally, General Thompson and his men arrived to turn the tide. They swept through every street, and gained the element of surprise, blasting around corners and picking up some of the Ultrathermal guns. The new armament surprised the Mangellans even more, and the battle became even more heated and brutal. Fiery red rays punctured buildings, and every shot either killed or wounded a person. Limbs were severed by flame, and skin melted from the magma. No one escaped unscalded. General Thompson wiped the sweat from his brow and tended to his injured shoulder. "Keep fighting, boys!" He yelled.
Drakkar's power provided the decisive blow the allies needed. The Saiyan teared freely through the town, killing and wounding many. He couldn't find Gen. Thompson, so he rallied the soldiers together on his own in a defiant stand against the enemy. Within an hour and a half, the battle was over: Drakkar was victorious.
