| This Great Egret(Ardea alba) was photographed near Lake Hickory in Caldwell County on 4-1-01. This is one of the few spring time records of Great Egret in the foothills. |

| On a cold day in January of 2001, we took this picture of a Herring Gull(Larus argentatus). It was with a group of Ring-billed Gulls at Gun Powder access area in Caldwell County. We only get a few Herring Gulls in the foothills each winter. |
| We went on a "snipe hunt" in March 2001 and found this Common Snipe(Gallinago gallinago) along with 14 others. They were a Southside park in Newton, NC. |
| This Eurasian Collared-Dove(Streptopelia decaocto) is one of about ten in a colony in and around the city of Conover, NC. They were first discovered here in September of 1998. |
