| This is a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) chick that is only days from fledging. |

| This is the chick and the nest that is in a large White Pine. It is on Lake James in Burke County. This is believed to be the western most Bald Eagle's nest in North Carolina. The tree has be killed by the southern pine beatle. |
