Foothills Aikido is a non-affiliated Aikido school. This
means that we owe no allegiance to any political organization.
Still, we do encourage communication and involvement with other
organizations. We want our students to practice with whatever
school, and whichever instructor that they feel can offer something
to them. We also encourage students to offer what they can in
return.
There are few formalities at Foothills Aikido. Some classes
may be conducted very formally to encourage students to become
familiar with proper etiquette. Always observe proper manners
during ranking examinations and when visiting other dojos. When
practicing at other dojos, your behavior reflects upon this dojo,
and upon yourself. Ask questions of the other students and pay
careful attention to procedures and formalities.
The "hakama" is normal attire for practice.
At Foothills Aikido, anyone may wear a hakama and we encourage
everyone to do so. The traditional colors are blue and black
that we accept at our dojo.
Membership dues alone support Foothills Aikido. We try
to keep them low by depending on volunteers to help run the organization.
Dues should be paid at the first of each month.
