Inside the Rankings
Miami, after slipping by Pitt (#20) by a fingernail on Thursday night, extended it’s lead over #2 Ohio State by a wide margin. Miami’s strength of schedule continues to improve every week, and with two games remaining (against #89 Syracuse and #27 Virginia Tech), they are all but guaranteed the top spot in the year-end SCI. Washington
State slips three spots to #10 after losing their Apple Cup matchup against
intra-state rival Washington (#40).
Wazzu had been ranked #3 in the AP, Coaches, and BCS rankings, but had
peaked only at #7 in the SCI largely due to the lack of a quality schedule
and big wins early on. Georgia
gets the nod over Notre Dame for the #4 spot because of it’s tougher strength
of schedule to date, but that may change if Notre Dame can pick off #6 USC
this weekend. |
