姓 氏 的 起 源 簡 述

古之天子俱以所居之地為姓, 如神農所居地為姜 水, 則姓姜氏. 黃帝所居地為姬水, 則姓姬氏; 帝舜 所居地為媯水, 則姓媯. 均從女,此為母系社會之 一証.

後來又有以“國”, 以“邑”, 以“鄉”, 以“亭”, 以“地” ,以“官”,以“事” 等為姓: 例如以“國”為姓的有唐, 夏, 商, 周, 齊, 宋, 畢, 江, 黃 等; 以“邑”為姓氏的有馮, 崔, 謝, 葉, 白 等.

The beginning of surnames in brief

 

At the beginning, the kings used the names of places,

Where they stayed as their surname: e.g. Shen Nong

stayed near River Jiang and his surname was Jiang,

Huang; Di  stayed near River Ji and his surname was Ji, and Di Shun

stayed near River Yan and his surname was Yan.

Later, names of nations, districts, cities, villages, works

etc. were also adopted as surnames: e.g. Tang, Xia,

Shang, Zhou, Bi. etc. were names of nations; Feng, Cui Xie Bai etc. were names of districts and cities.
