Mercy

"Advocates of Zeal explain that the war between humanity and monstrosities has two sides: perpetrator and victim. By their definition, humanity is the victim, and it's hunters' duty to stand up in defiance. Followers of Mercy have a different perspective."

That's from Page 147 of the Hunter core book, and I think it opens the way for the creeds of this particular Virtue quite well.

Followers of Mercy aren't flying by good and evil in an abstract form. This battle may be on a cosmic scale but it's being fought person by person. Hard choices have to be made every day, but there's no pretending that there isn't a possible margin of error for these guys. Good and evil? Try right and wrong...

If you don't understand how Virtues and Creeds fit together, check out the Edges section.

Innocents- "Do other hunters treat you like you were dropped on your head as a kid? Things might be different where you are, but around here, "Innocent" might as well mean "idiot." It's not like we don't do our share." (P.66, H:tR) These are the people that know they are different now and see kindred spirits in the supposed "monsters." People make mistakes and can do damage to those around them too, but that doesn't make all humans bad does it?

In a hunt they will do what needs to be done, but they will also try to be the voice of reason...sometimes, however, their moment of indescision can cost...

Quote: "Can't we all just get along?"

Imbuing: Innocents usually run into something that looks nastier than it acts, or they try to calm the group/monster with words and actions.

Martyrs- "Martyrs are compelled to destroy the unknown and the monsterous, but they can't escape the knowledge that their quarry has (or had) human feelings just as they do...for all their empathy, followers of this primary path hunt with an almost self-destructive fury."(P.150, H:tR)Martyrs hate their jobs. They don't have the luxury of Avengers (they can't pretend they are fighting mindless beasts), but the only way they know to react is to push themselves to the line and do their best in every way. "Think of all the things you'd give up to push back doomsday. All set? Okay, if that list starts with your life and includes your soul, you might be a Martyr."(P.70, H:tR).

Quote: "Whatever it takes so no other poor sap has to go through what we have."

Imbuing: Usually putting oneself in a situation where you harm or put yourself in harm's way to stop the "monster" or help others.

Redeemers- These are the people who's first thought is "How can I help?" They want to fix up the injured, bury the dead, and save those that can be...but how do you deal with the walking dead? The things that look, talk, and act human...to help, save...is it even possible? So, asking the questions isn't everything there is to being a Redeemer, but it's a big part...and every Redeemer is haunted by the knowledge that they act this way towards these "monsters" because deep down they are afraid of how they were treated should they too become "infected."

Quote: "We're here to help. To save those that can't save themselves...and in some cases that means helping them to die..."

Imbuing: Someone gets hurt and you help...that or you find the cause of the mayhem and do something about them...
