In this time, deepspawn, monstrous spider like creatures, were sightedin areas close by the willowood. These unnatural foe were also seen harrying front line troops and attacking the winter encampments of both sides. Once a liberation attack was mounted to retake Carlech, the fighting was surprisingly swift and bloodless as the main gates to the city appeared to open of their own accord, allowing the Barons of Berwickshire, along with the Hounds Tooth Company and the Templar order to enter the city and regain control. The Marches leaders Lords Luyten , Pendrake and Heretic Conway were all hung in accordance with Berwickshire law. False Thane Summerville-Black was speared the death sentence by agreeing to serve the templar order for the rest of his life. The taking of Carlech saw the end of creatures known as deep spawn as it was a few months after the end of the civil war that these creatures disappeared. A full account of these events can be sought from Baronet Quinn Dexter of Newcroft. Meanwhile it was discovered that a malevolent floating black entity was causing the changing plague. This was based in the Akenwode, a dark and unnatural forest in the centre of Berwickshire, where the fiery rock was presumed to have fallen. Chunks of the rock were placed on the shrines which caused them to wither and crumble. The cloud was discovered to be a form of creature banished beyond the skys by Sidhe, until it was his time to fulfil his purpose. He was known as the Dark Man. After stopping the spread of mutants form the Akenwode at the town of Telfords wall and failing to create a cure for the changing plague, a force was sent into the Akenwode using 100s of men who were killed clearing a path to the centre. A demon was summoned to assist us to locate the rock, although the summoner was ex-communicated for her sins. Thus the rock was found and the darkman with it. By praying over the rock and talking to the darkman, he was convinced that this was not the place of his rest and agreed to exile himself to the sky again. At the same time this year, deep within Ravensholme, the home of the Gilmore noble family, a sword with a malevolent spirit bound to it had been discovered. The histories are unsure of where this spirit came form, or how it was bound to the weapon, but once discovered, the spirit took corporeal from. Thus the vampire Von Raven was released. He attempted to recapture Gilmore lands, which had once been his own, where his ever growing army of summoned undead and vampiric knights. All attempts to kill him failed. Seemingly his pact with a lord of a nether plane rendered him impervious to injury and granted him life eternal. This deal cost him the life and soul of his first born son. One of his plans was to render the worshipers of the seven unable to defend against him and his minions. Through mysterious magics, alchemy and dark anatomy he created a Great white Tincture (a potion) which among other things rendered those affected unable to commune with their deities. After attempts to break his pact by destroying his sons skull Von Raven was finally stopped by a traitor in his own ranks. DeGeese, a lesser vampire who had previously lead attacks on DunHelm and the Kharachian temple there in traded both he creator of the tincture and method by which to trap Von Raven, leading him to a chosen point of capture. In the end the tincture was cured and Von Raven bound with manacles holy to the dark Lady of Greed. He was then locked away in a hidden place for all eternity. |
