| How to Mash Potatoes
A Sonnet by Juleigh Howard-Hobson Instructions for mashing potatoes: You Should clean potatoes in cold water, then Chop them up into pieces. Four will do. Now put some water on the boil. And when It boils, add the chopped quarters. Check the time-- When twenty minutes pass, turn it off and Drain the pot. The potatoes should be fine But soft. Add butter and a drop of bland Liquid (milk or stock),some salt�then mash. Mash It all up: the butter, the milk (or stock) The salt, and, of course, the potatoes. Smash Until the lumps are gone and flavours lock. And then, to have them at their uttermost, Serve them hot, with two veggies, and a roast. |
