The last week has been really great. Wednesday the 16th was my birthday so I was slightly floating. I went to my classes and I got a book on U2 at the library. When I got back from my last class me and three of my roomies went out to dinner at a place known as Bono's favourite Fish and Chips restaurant. The food was great and I got to go behind the counter and take my picture with a U2 gold record. After Dinner a bunch of us, that included me, all 9 of my roomies, and some of our friends went out to a Pub. I was surprisingly even more lacking in coordination than usual. I'm afraid I can't explain it, chee hehe. It was also really nice because I had a nice birthday dream that included my friends from home and dear Larry Mullen Jr. Happy Birthday to me. It was quite a gift compared to a dream I had the night before where I was attacked by a pack of evil attack cats. Saved by Mr. Mullen.
I spent Thursday preparing for my B-Day trip to Dublin. I bought a map and did a bunch of background stuff at the library. I went to bed real late, and I knew that I wouldn't be getting much sleep because the bus left at 8:am the next morning. I was very lucky that next morning, because my alarm clock of course didn't go off. This is my second alarm clock in two weeks, and I'm beginning to think I'm cursed. I was having a really magical morn, and I miraculously woke up on my own at 6:45. I packed my bags and left to walk to the bus station. The trip on the bus was nice, but the rain began pouring down, just soon after I left Cork. My dear Converse Chucks, did me wrong, and in only a few moments after my arrival in Dublin, I was soaked to the skin. The next two days were pretty great, but I did have some lows because I had injured my foot on a squirrel twirl gone wrong, and got pretty sick because of the rain. This wasn't going to get me down though. I was able to see a bunch of really great things in the City Centre area. I saw the Bonavox Hearing Aid Store, The Clarence Hotel, Baggots Inn, The Factory, The Point Depot, Principle Management, and more. I also ate at The Nude, the restaurant owned by Norman Hewson a.k.a. Bono's big Bro. I ate another meal at Captain Americas, a tasty place that enabled me to dine next to The Edge's signed guitar, Larry's Drumsticks, Bono's Muscle Shirt, and a great Picture of Adam, The Picture closest to me, was a really cute autograph picture of the Edge. I spent several minutes contemplating how difficult it really would be to walk out with it. Come on, would they really miss it?
The most adventure was getting to the Hanover Quay Studios and the Locks, where the October Cover was shot. A lot of you may know that this area of the docks is under a great amount of construction. Almost every road I turned down was blocked off, and finally after I walked like a thousand miles out of the way I was able to get to the locks. I was walking down this deserted street, with a high construction wall on my right (also with great beware of attack dogs signs) and on my left the River. When I turned down the next street, I came face to face with a large group of Irish Travellers (you know the nomadic people like from the movie Snatch. They seemed pretty cool, and I had to laugh because all of their caravans were parked right next to these huge NO PARKING signs. I looked for Brad Pitt, but no luck. After that day, I was still feeling quite ill, so I decided to end my adventure there. I wasn't too disappointed; because all it means is that I'll have to make a return trip to Dublin soon.
Oh and may I add, that minus one rocking beanie wearing squirrel, Dublin is quite lacking in my extreme four legged companions. When I got back from Dublin, I was watching this movie with Tim Roth, call Jumpin at the Bone Yard, the movie was real sad, and at the end Tim Roth dies, but all this was lost to me, because while Tim Roth is laying on the ground dying, this cute little squirrel jumped out of a tree and ran down the side walk. Sorry folks hope I didn't ruin the movie, but it was my first squirrel sighting in ages.
One more thing. This morning was quite Christmassy because I was lying around watching MTV and they had a top five U2 video countdown. I got to see Discotheque, and The Fly for the first time. It was too enjoyable. I actually squealed, SICK, but oh the boys were looking good. Nice Pants Edge, MEOOOOOOOOOOOW, oh sorry I guess I should say CHEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. chee hehe later.
