| MEDIA RELEASE Return to Home Page June 23rd, 2005 LORD MAYOR OF CORK HONOURS BEAMISH CORK FOLK FESTIVAL � HEADLINE ACTS FOR 2005 ANNOUNCED - The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Sean Martin, has honoured the contribution of the Beamish Cork Folk Festival to the City of Cork with a reception at City Hall this evening, (Thursday, June 23rd, 2005). The festival, which is in its twenty-sixth year, will take place from September 2nd to 11th, 2005. The 2005 programme will be a major highlight of the Cork 2005 European Capital of Culture programme, bringing some of Europe�s finest folk musicians to Cork to share stages with the best of Irish folk performers. Highlights* include: � Carlos Nunez (Galicia, Spain) with Sliabh Notes � Eddi Reader (Scotland) with the Cork Pops Orchestra � Marta Sebestyen and Muzsikas (Hungary) with Karan Casey � La Bottine Souriante (Quebec, Canada) with North Cregg � Dick Gaughan (Scotland) with Ron Kavana � Altan with Diarmaid Moynihan Band � Liam O�Flynn with the Piper�s Call Band � Announcing the headline acts, Jim Walsh, Chairman, Beamish Cork Folk Festival Committee, said: �I am delighted that the Lord Mayor of Cork has honoured the Beamish Cork Folk Festival this evening. The 2005 programme represents the best of European and Irish folk music and we are confident this year will be the best festival ever.
