Beamish Cork Folk Festival

The Beamish Cork Folk Festival 2007 commences on Tuesday, August 28th and will run for five more days until Sunday, September 2nd. Now in its 28th year, the Festival, which is one of the country�s longest-running and best loved folk festivals, takes place in a variety of venues throughout the city. Since its inception in 1979, Cork�s annual folk festival has provided lovers of folk and traditional Irish music with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a feast of top quality music, song and dance.

Among the highlights of this year�s festival are:

� L�nasa at the Gresham Metropole Hotel on Friday, August 31st
� Iarla � Lion�ird in concert at St Fin Barres Cathedral on Saturday, September 1st
�  Chulrua (from  USA) featuring the Great Paddy O Brien, Patrick Ourceau and Pat Egan.                                                                    
� C�il� M�r 2007 with the Kilfenora C�il� Band on Sunday, September 2nd
� The EBU Radio Folk Music Festival (in conjunction with RT�) running all weekend in the new CIT � Cork School of Music
� Scottish Connections an Arts Council supported series of Concerts featuring. Chris Stout, Catriona McKay, Tommy Sullivan, Michael Marra, Kris Drever and �amonn Coyne;
� Cork County Comhaltas presents traditional music on Patrick Street Sat 1st sept.

The accompanying line-up includes Matt Cranitch; Seamas Creagh and Aidan Coffey; Dave Hennessy; Ron Kavana; Ricky Lynch;; Ger Murphy; Peadar � Riada; Seamus Tansey and Mo O Connor; Caoimhin � Rathaille, The Polskadots; Hyperborea (from Finland). Broda Trio (from Poland), The Dizzy Blues Band; The Baltinore Fiddle Fair, Two Time Polka; �ine Whelan and Sarah Corkery.

As always, the Festival will include:
The Festival Club (based this year in the Gresham Metropole Hotel and the Crane Lane Theatre);
Specialist concerts featuring performances by some of the country�s premier exponents of Traditional Singing, Box, Fiddle, and Pipes;
Master Classes in Set Dancing, Flute and Fiddle playing; and
An exciting Folk Music Trail.
