| 06-02-2003 Foleys RAW Awards Although Mick Foley wasnt present at the WWEs RAW 10th Anniversary Special, he was nominated for three awards, winning one, and was a part of two of the top ten moments in the history of RAW. Mick was invited to attend the night but refused. The legend wanted to arrive, pick up his award and leave but the WWE wanted him to stay all day doing promotional work, which he couldnt fit into his schedule. Throughout the show, Micks name was mentioned numerous times showing just what a huge part of the RAW phenomena he has been with his crazy wrestling style in the ring and off-beat humour out of it. First off, Micks tribute to The Rock was selected as the 10th Greatest Moment in the history of RAW. On the 27th of September 1999, Mankind presented his partner in the Rock N Sock Connection with a hilarious, This Is Your Life segment, bringing together The Rocks former coaches, teachers and girlfriends, although it can be said that The Rock was less than happy to see them. Later, Mick was also involved in the 7th Greatest Moment from RAW, when he introduced the now-famous Mr. Socko to cheer up hospitalized WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who was later attacked by Stone Cold Steve Austin with a bedpan. (To read more about Mr. Socko, see The Legend of Mr. Socko) Foley won the award for the Most Shocking Moment with the Three Faces of Foley. With Foley not available to accept his award, presenter Booker T told the fans to Have a nice day! on behalf of the legendary wrestler. It was great that Mick won an award, but I believe that a wrestler as great as him should have been presented with a more important award, based on the contribution he made to the WWE over the years. Towards the end of the drab two-hour show, Foleys Hardcore Match (as Cactus Jack) with HHH was nominated as one of the matches of the decade, but somehow werent awarded with it despite the fact that the match was unbelievable. In perhaps the greatest show of respect for Mick Foleys amazing work over so many years as Dude Love, Cactus Jack and Mankind, the worlds greatest wrestler was nominated as one of Wrestlers of the Decade, losing out to Stone Cold Steve Austin. |
