Luke Wilson stars as Alex, a troubled author with writer's block who also owes a hundred grand to Cuban loan sharks and has only one month to make good. His love story is stuck in his head, but he can't get it down on paper — the Cubans killed his laptop — and if he doesn't hand his publisher a finished book fast, he's a dead man. Enter Kate Hudson, a talkative, strong-willed stenographer hired to help him complete his novel. As the two come up with ideas about the fictional romantic story of Adam Shipley (also Wilson), a young writer who falls for a poor French woman (Sophie Marceau), love begins swirling in the air.
