This is an article adapted from the New York Times on 13th November 2001, concerning a plane crash accident happened on 11th November 2001, exactly two-month time after the terrorists attack on 11th September 2001.

An Airbus A300 jetliner that belongs to American Airline plunged into Queens zone in New York minutes after departure. The jetliner, flight number 587, originally planned to take off from Kennedy International Airport to Dominican Republic at 9:14 a.m. under an absolutely good weather. When the jetliner climbed up just a short period of time, it veered downward and decomposed parts of the jet body at the same time. The plane then ripped through of the houses built nearby the Belle Harbor, causing a huge explosion. White House officials with the US National Transportation Safety Board representative said that the jetliner carried 251 passengers together with 9 crewmembers as well as fully loaded with fuel. They assumed no victims on the plane remain alive. In addition, there were at least 5 people on the ground found also dead. The chairwomen of the Board said that “All evidence we have points to no evidence of criminal activity.”

5 days after the accident, the board had already found two-cockpit voice recorder that recorded the whole conversation between the pilots and the control center of the airport. Experts and scientists believed that the reason for the crash might due to the air current made by the Boeing jetliner, which departure at the same runway minute before. Mayor Giuliani and President Bush both hoped that New York citizen could overcome this recent accident as soon as possible.

Personally, I think not even the New York citizen would treat this case as another terrorists attack on US again because this happened a short period of time after the September 11 attack. In fact, researchers and engineers found out that the engine of the jetliner was not a perfect one, and they also found that there were relatively high risks of getting crash during climbing up or landing. As a result, the safety of this journey comes to a question. Although there were increase in attention of the safety of jetliners after September 11 accident, passengers lose their confidences in taking jets, causing a drop in demanding for the jetliners, thus decrease the morale of the backup team of the airline companies and then decrease the quality of the services.

Honestly, it is a hardship for New York citizen to overcome such gloomy environment after hading two impressive plane crash within 2 months. Most people would like to seek help from a psychologist, but is this useful? I doubt it. Instead of seeking help from others, I would suggest the victims’ relatives try to escape out of the gloomy environment by themselves so that this would minimize the wound on their soul. For example, they should not get frighten when they travel on a plane, or they should not always think of the passed-away victims.

There were many plane crash accidents happened around the world years before, so we should treat this case same as before, i.e. we should not define this crash as another terrorists attack. Nevertheless, we should pray for the New York citizen so that they can back to their normal life soon or later again.
