UE Lyrics Introduction |
‘What
a wonderful world’ – Louis Armstrong
I
see trees of green, red roses too
I
see them bloom for me and you
And
I think to myself what a wonderful world
I
see skies of blue and clouds of white
The
bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And
I think to myself what a wonderful world
The
colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are
also on the faces of people going by
I
see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're
really saying I love you
I
hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll
learn much more than I'll never know
And
I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes
I think to myself what a wonderful world
I first heard this song from a TV commercial
made by the former local company Cable & Wireless – Hong Kong Telecom. When
looking at the lyrics, I knew that the theme of the song was related to
peaceful, similar to ‘Imagine’ sang by John Lennon. When comparing both songs,
I found that this song seemed to bring us onto the sky, traveling round the
world. Alternatively, ‘Imagine’ brought out lots of virtual ideas only and the
listener cannot totally fuse into artist’s thought. The melody of this song was
quite soft, and it was a good choice for relaxing.
Sometimes I would rather think that this song
gave us a concept of ‘Global Village’. Just imagine if the lyrics were all
true, then all the people were just like to be living in the same village.
There would be peaceful and happiness only, no wars, no conflicts, and all the
people joined together to be a unique union. This is a perfect dream, though,
it’s hard to achieve. Therefore this song was named as ‘What a wonderful
world’, having an idea that if the thoughts mentioned in the songs were true,
then the world was wonderful.
