This was a
program concerning an Italy ship that had already sank, the Umbria, in the Red
Sea for over 60 years.
Umbria had a size of 470 feet times 55 feet, with a capacity of 2400 passengers. During the Second World War, the ship was sold to British. After the ship-transfer ceremony, the ship captain received a news that Italy joined the Axis community, and the sailors were then being told to made the ship sank, and thus all the Britain on the ship were dead. Nearly half a century after this incident scientists and explorers found that there were huge amount of bombs, explosive, coins, and even a Ferrari sports car at the lowest level inside the ship. Besides these, they just found simple aquarium creatures such as algae fulfill the remaining ship body. The coral totally conquered the Umbria at a depth of 40 meters, and this led to the formation of a new marine ecosystem. Moreover, Red Sea was located near the desert, causing the water temperature higher than that of the Indian Ocean. This made the Red Sea had a ‘tropical climate’ and lots of monopolize animals live in Red Sea.
Many huge ships passing through the Suez Canal were sunk because of knocking the coral reef under the water. As a result, more and more artificial coral reefs were made, and letting the Red Sea become more boisterous. Predictors living around the Umbria did not make use of their instinctive ability, but use patience and reaction time as hunting tools.
From the program, I learnt that life could be refilled into a sunken ship, made the ‘sub-water-world’ became more ‘merrymaking’. Besides, the program taught me that predictors had to be familiar with any environment so that it can took its post at any time. This reminds me of human should have what the predictors had, and thus this is the way to success. To conclude, the Umbria does not totally representing the human history, it also include the truth of the way to alive.
