One of the biggest differences between Gunnm versions (Japanese, English, French) is the names. In many cases, names have been either altered or totally changed. You'll find in the following table the major changes made:

It is interesting here to see that the French, who translated the Gunnm manga after the Americans, used a combinations of the original names and English modified names. They didn't use the most critisized changes (Alita for Gally, Tiphares for Zalem, Hugo for Yugo) but used the less important changes (Jashugan, Lou Collins...).
