| It barely seems possible that it is nearly 4 years since the first ever Sandy Bottoms tour Barbados 1998. 4 years of UK tours and a second tour to Barbados in 2000 has seen hours of entertainment value, numerous new faces and several thousand pounds! The fond memories of 16 bleach-blonded males, Sausages abnormal affiliation with the turtles, Roger the Cabin boy singeing his feet to a crisp, 2 perfectly drunken voyages on the Jolly Roger and not forgetting the fishing trip that left several unsuspecting fish drowning in the Welsh birds vomit. It seems that the tour of a lifetime, can be lived over and over again, it just keeps getting better and better. For those who will be embarking on their first expedition to Barbados, there is a useful Bajan saying, which may help in times of need.... Follow m leader leader leader, follow m leader jump n wave, jump n wave A gentle reminder of what is to come: 2 weeks of basking in the beautiful Bajan sunshine, sipping Barbados Mount Gay Rum and Coke at a Buy one get one free beach bar during a picturesque sunset. Cracking open the first chilled bottle of banks beer of the day in the hazy mid-afternoon heat, whilst simultaneously rolling over on to your back to further improve the deep golden tan. For those with fair sensitive skin, please substitute deep and golden with painful and red to be able to fully appreciate this powerful imagery. In the evenings you can expect to either sample culinary delights from the local Chefette, witness the boundaries of Sandy Bottoms cuisine in your apartment or go for something a little more extravagant at one of the many local eating establishments. Then it is just a question of alcohol. Lawrence Gap appears to embrace the hub of Bajan nightlife, with bars and nightclubs either just a short stumble or cab drive away. As for the hockey, the standard is pretty good but the silverware tends to go home with a local Bajan side. Once again we will enter a Mens, a Ladies and a mixed side, this suggests that there will be plenty of opportunities to sweat the alcohol from our dehydrated remains, if only to prepare for another night of doubtful sobriety. There will be a good run up to next years tour with several pre-tour parties. The soul purpose of these social gatherings are in truth just to get drunk, however they may also provide a golden opportunity to exchange your favourite shirts for one that quite clearly does not fit *, drink power shandys under the bar with Up2 and observe that drinking is the art of comedy. More importantly though, you will soon understand what a fragment of 2 weeks on tour will feel like. *The sacred art of top swapping although fun and meaningless has over time claimed many garments into the orange hole of doom. This is where clothes go after being vanquished to another being, then another, then another and so on...until the original swap is just a faded memory. The pre-tour parties September 21st 2002 November 23rd 2002 March 1st 2003 May 17th 2003 July 12th-13th 2003 - Weekend away at The Barn (Collect your kit) The work of a social genius is always fraught with frequent double bookings causing both distress and disappointment, I therefore advise you all to add these dates to your busy schedules PDQ. Can you imagine the misery of missing out on a Sandy Bottoms party because you accidentally committed yourself to a weekend with Aunt Fanny and Uncle Barthlomew in Skegness?
