We have 2,500 registered orphans of whom 1,350 are girls aged between 0 and 18 and the rest are boys aged between 0 and 19. Our current project is the Integrated HIV/AIDS program for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children. We have been in existence since 1993.
The Provinces are:
Copperbelt and North-western
These towns are:
Kalulushi, Lufwanyama, Solwezi, Chingola and Kitwe
These areas are:
Chingola- kasamba, Chamakumbi, Mutenda, Solwezi- Kangwena, Kamyanga, Lunga, Nakamwale, Kalulushi- Mibenge, Chimoto, Kabulankanshi, Lumpuma, Mukutuma, Funku, Lungwa, Shobe and Buchi.
The aim of the project
The aim of the project is to care, support and prevent our HIV/AIDS infected or affected children who are orphaned and vulnerable.
(a) The target groups
Our registered orphaned and vulnerable children who are 0 - 19 years old and above is our target.
(b) The main activities
The main activities will involve prevention activities including sensitization through capacity building, Drama, Posters, Radio Programs, Television programs, out of school and in school programs to enable children understand the need to protect themselves from getting infected or infecting others.
The support activity will involve educational and welfare programs. The care activity will involve counselling, health and home based care programs.
Objectives
Our main objective is to enable children who are orphaned because of HIV/AIDS not to get infected by the virus.
As Faith Orphanage Foundation, we have something very unique that we can offer to the entire orphan care program.
We believe that a child who has lost a parent or both, needs proper care before anyone can come up with educational, welfare, HIV/AIDS sensitisation; we have to make them independent in mind and body through a program called Faith Youth Missions.
This is a six -week program that strengthens a child and makes him or her a responsible person in society.
There after, any NGO can come in to assist this child so that none of the hard fought for resources do not go to waste.
To enable a Youth come out as a responsible person.
