Our health guarantee:

Our kittens are completely vaccinated. At the time of their placement, they are tested for FeLV/FIV. We bring them to their new homes, if at all possible.

AuroraBorealis sells all breeders - at 5 to 6 months of age - with a complete blood- with electrophoresis test - and with a health guarantee for healthy hips, knees and hearts, as well as fertility (details upon request)

All our breeder cats are/will be OFA certified at 2 years age.

They are regularly vaccinated and tested for infectious diseases.

Evaluation ratings of the OFA:

1. Excellent: extraordinary good hips
2. Good: as it says, good hips
3. Fair: rather good hip confirmation (still good)

4. Borderline: should be re-checked in approximately 6 months

5. Mild: slight hip dysplasia
6. Moderate: as it says, moderate hip dysplasia
7. Severe: worse hip dysplasia

Step 1 to 3 are healthy hips, step 4 ought to be checked again about 6 to 8 months later, again (if femalese check 3 weeks after last cycle!), and will get OFA's registration numbers. OFA recommends to breed only with animals above "Borderline".

OFA registration numbers are read as follows:

e.g. OFA MCC-96G25F (Vallon Beverly Crusher)

OFA (= Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc., 2300 Nifong Blvd.,
Columbia, Missouri 65201, USA)

MCC (= abbreviation of the breed "Maine Coon Cat")

96 (= numbered consecutively)

G (= first letter of OFA's evaluation "G"ood)

25 (= cats' age at the time the xray was taken)

F (= F for female animal - M for male animal)
