| I bought one of these rifles & only had it for about 3 months. The only reason why I had it that long, is because I sent the receiver back to GSI to have that new A2 reticle installed. When I got it back, I was so dissapointed. That crosshair in the little circle - sucked! It was too much stuff in a 1.5 power optic. It worked ok, but not good enough for me. I got on the net that night and found someone who would trade a BArrett 99 for it. It was outta here! After I got the Barrett, I started thinking about the AUG. Kinda like how ya feel about not giving a girlfriend a real chance or not. I started hunting for another, this time WITHOUT that A2 reticle & with matching numbers! I found one with the LE optic (circle with a little dot) I LOVE the reticle! It is so simply & effective. I have not had any malfunctions of any kind, with any ammo. I feel the AUG is a VERY reliable weapon. The only complaint I have is the bolt release. I am working on that & will keep you posted on my progress. Too bad it didn't have a release by the trigger or where you put the mag. Or it would be cool to have it slam home when you put in a fresh mag, I had a Daewoo handgun that would slap a round in everytime I placed a fresh mag in. I loved that - ya slapped it in - it slammed home! I took it to a firearm course (3 years & 4000 rounds later), and the instructor said it wasn't reliable to have that happen. Then it started NOT stripping off that first round. Murphy says something about that. I am going to send it in with PJS investments for the A2 receiver. That way I can have the factory optic & be able to have the advantage of a different piece of glass. I don't know what I am going to put on it, first I need to save up the $800 for it. UPDATE: I put off sending it to PJS. Now you can't get the A2 conversion done. Those who didn't put it off, now are getting $6700 for their recivers!!!!!!! Damn |

| My newest toy! This is one of the rare BLACK Steyr AUG rifles. It has the shorter 16" barrel, 1 30 round mag, 2 42 round mags, standard donut of death reticle, one of only 2500 (by one person, 1 of 1000 by another) This has got to be one of the coolest carbines have ever owned before. The short barrel and bullpup design make it the shortest non-NFA rifle I own. It has got that CDI appeal (chicks dig it) I purchased this through www.vogarms.com Tell Wes I sent ya! |
