FOOD FOR PEOPLE!
NOT FOR PROFIT!

The name Food Not Bombs tells what we're about. The US. spends around $400 billion on war every year. Meanwhile, people all over the world go hungry daily. In the United States alone, an estimated 3.5 million people (1.35 million of them children) experience homelessness every year.

26% of edible food is thrown away every year in the US

Besides opposing the use of money for war, we also protest the vast food waste that occurs in our capitalist system. Everyday in the US, food is wasted at every level of distribution. In the fields, in shipping, at the warehouse, in the grocery store, and in restaurants. Our mission is to take this food to anyone who's hungry. Sometimes, we get it from a friendly grocery store employee, other times, we dig it out of a dumpster.

Some people say it's disgusting to eat from the garbage. We say it's disgusting to throw so much away!

-39% spend more than 30% of their income on rent

-"In five year, 437 complaints have been filed with Milwaukee's police and fire commission. Only eight went to a hearing. Only two of those eight were sustained by the judge.
-Fired Milwaukee police officers charged with a crime still collect pay. This practice doesn't happen anywhere else in the country, and is an incentive for officers to extend the appeals process."
