| Halloween 2- Not So Electric Boogaloo If you hadn't seen the first Halloween, you're screwed. I guess that's true with any movie sequel. Maybe except Speed 2. You kinda know what's gonna happen even if you didn't watch the first one. But of course Speed 2 shouldn't have been made to begin with. Hm, now I'm reviewing another movie. Back to "Halloween 2". The very beginning of "Halloween 2" takes place right when "Halloween" ended. Well, kinda. It's done a little different shown in different angles, but it's pretty much the same thing. Donald Pleasence's character, Dr. Loomis, shows up at Laurie's house, shoots Michael Meyers, he falls down and then a minute later he is gone. The rest of the movie turns into a manhunt while Laurie, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is admitted into the hospital. One of the paramedic guys, Jimmy, is in love with Laurie and gets mushy at moments. Jimmy's partner, Bud, is a stoner asshole who is banging a nurse. Hm, looking back at my notes I realized they didn't give her a name. Or I didn't catch it. Well, it doesn't matter much, she and Bud get killed. That kind of bothered me actually. The movie spent about half an hour showing this nurse's life, we got to know her, she got naked for us, and she ends up getting boiled to death by Michael Meyers. Anyway, Michael is running around a hospital while the clueless cops and Dr. Loomis search the town trying to find him. They go to a school where Michael broke into, probably in the first movie, and there is a word written on the board that means in some language (I swear I tried to pay attention) "the lord of death". This freaks Dr. Loomis out, but he can't do anything about it cause he was ordered by the governor (not Arnold) to stop looking for Michael. Then things get weird. Laurie pretends to be catatonic so she can leave the safety of her room and go out and get closer to Michael. Well, he finds her and then chases her. She hides everywhere she can, including a car. The guy with the crush, Jimmy, finds all the bodies, including a super bitchy nurse. He gets in the car where Laurie is hiding, is freaked out, and I guess dies from freaking out. It isn't really explained too well. I swear that's how it was: he finds the bodies, freaks out, and then he's dead. Apparently, he isn't man enough for Laurie. She's having a night much worse then John McClaine in "Die Hard", seeing dead bodies everywhere, and she still manages. This Jimmy guy sees one dead body and he dies from freak out. While Dr. Loomis is being transported back to the hospital he came from, he learns that Laurie is- WARNING!! I'm sure everyone must know this little bit of tidbit by now considering there's 8 of these movies (7 of them having to do with Michael Meyers) but in the off chance you are reading this and you haven't seen ANY of the "Halloween" movies, then you a weiner and you deserve to have this plot spoiled for you. (Ahem.) Laurie is Michael's sister, but she was adopted after Michael went crazy, killed his sister, was put away, and his parents died. This is the reason why he is after her. Loomis freaks out (see, he didn't die) and orders by gunpoint the marshall transporting him to turn around to get to Laurie before Michael does. It should be noted here that when John Carpenter made this movie, he planned on not making anymore Michael Meyers movies and was just gonna make "Twilight Zone" type movies where weird things happen on Halloween, which explains "Halloween 3: Season of The Witch". So the ending involves Michael dying, actually dying. And Laurie escapes. But Loomis isn't so lucky. So I am so waiting for "Halloween 4" where Michael comes back. I just so need to know how he comes back. But that's next week movie. So, that's what happened in the movie, here are my thoughts. This movie is the opposite of the first movie. The first movie was suspenseful and scary. This movie was just kinda goofy. Mainly Donald Pleasence's scenes. The first twenty minutes with him in it, he'd run around screaming like a mad man and he lost his British accent and became a southerner. Speaking of, apparently truckers are hired to be reporters. Or reporters dress up like truckers. And one scene that sticks out in this movie is the part when Loomis thinks he spotted Michael crossing the street and is trying to shoot him, but the sheriff stops him and while the guy is in the street, a cop car comes out of nowhere, hits the guy, the guy goes flying into a parked truck that also appears out of nowhere. It turns out the guy was a 17-year-old kid who dressed like Michael Meyers before it was cool to dress up like Michael Meyers for Halloween. And the award for coolest death scene goes to the bitch nurse. When Jimmy, the not so studly paramedic (how can you be a paramedic and die from freaking out??) finds her, he discovers that she slowly bled to death, like King George (Do a search on King George if you must). This is what causes Jimmy to freak out and die. I'm guessing. I should've figured something was up with this movie when there are actual previews on the DVD. Yes, instead of the movie starting when you pressed play, it went to previews THEN the movie. The hell? I thought this movie was gonna be as good or maybe even better then the original, but it was just kinda rather silly and predictable. I think this was the first horror movie that people were screaming suggestions at. I think Loomis and Laurie should've shot Michael in the head. And I think Michael should've maybe kicked it up a notch with the walking. He took his sweet ass time getting anywhere, which gives Laurie plenty of time to escape. Maybe it's part of the torture, what do I know? Another complaint was John Carpenter turned the classic Halloween theme and made it 80's. Yes, the Halloween theme was remade to fit the 80's style music. Why, John, why? One last thing to point out, I was weirded out that at the beginning of the movie, an old guy is watching "Night of The Living Dead" the movie I watched last night. Weird, huh? But despite all of that, it did keep my interest in a few parts. Especially the end. But I'm satisfied enough that I seen it once. 2 stars.
