FISRT and FOREMOST - They are very EXPENSIVE!!
For example, the total cost of my tank, tank stand, lights, false-bottom materials, substrate, plants, water heater, water pump, temperature guage and humidity guage was about $250. Compare that to my misting system, which cost me about $240!!! Suffice it to say, if you ever get an automatic misting system, it will probably be the single most expensive frog-related thing you own (including any single frog).
SECONDLY - They are a real pain in the butt to set up.
It took me a couple of hours to set mine up so that it sprayed correctly and in the directions I wanted. And I have had to adjust it on a couple of occasions since then.
THIRDLY - I would never go back to living without one again. Period.
In short, this thing is AWESOME!!!
It provides a beautiful fine mist for the frogs and can be set to go off as often or as seldom as you want. So even as I sit in my office in the city, I know that back in Hoboken my frogs are dancing and singing in the rain. And the bucket is big enough to hold a month's worth of water. So, aside from the occasional hand-misting for fun, I never have to worry about the moisture in my viv. |

Basically, the whole concept in a nutshell is: a pump forces water from a bucket through a tube up to the vivarium, where the water is forced through nozzles, creating a fine mist.
So the system comes with
a) a bucket
b) some tubing
c) a pump
d) some nozzles
e) a timer
That's it. |
