Dr. John D.
Ogletree, Jr. Senior Pastor/Founder
Rev. Johnny opened the evening with an piece entitled “The Computer Shut Down.” This piece highlighted the relationship of God and man, as it pertains to falling short of the mark. The piece likened God unto a master computer program, and His children as a computer, filled with viruses, and dysfunctional programming. It was designed to get people thinking about the frustration God experiences when we shut down, and the joy He find in having us to program in spite of our malfunctions.
Then,
Sis Kellie Carter (pictured on
left), dropped a powerful piece, called “Spiritual Necrophilia.” She
exhaled, a God breathed Word, about what it truly is to be born again and
living, as opposed to dead in our flesh and sins.
Sis Carter, entwined the mind, with an injection of truth which was
completely full proof. All ears were warm, from the baking of charm, played from
the mystical flute, of the power of God’s truth.
Sis Carter's skill, proved to be very advanced, and her relationship and
understanding of who she is in Christ, shined through in her pieces.
Rev.
Cliff Young (pictured on right) opened the match with a powerful
serve. He opened his heart and soul to the audience, reading short powerful
poems, at a quick clip, which discussed Salvation and Relationship.
Rev. Young, proved to be a very skilled lyricist, as he continued to
thumb through his book of poetry, willing and eager to share.
Chris
Collins (pictured on left), dug deep into the soul, with a piece,
that had no title. It called could have been called, “The Prayer; Battle or
Conversation.”
In this prayer/poem, he seemed to capture the essence of thought, spoken, and received words, in our prayer as individuals. Chris dove into the private thoughts of his peers, and had all sinking in the quicksand of truth. In our prayers, a battle can take place, which can discourage you from approaching the Father, and cause disbelief.
We must be prepared for the fight between flesh and spirit, so that our prayers are prayed with purpose and confidence; for a man without faith can not please God.
The prayer also highlighted the ungrateful attitude that can often be taken when approaching God. Our jealousy and ambitious nature, can cause one to be unthankful, and exhibit a selective memory when it comes to our blessings. One question every listener was left with, is "what if God was fair?"
Then, Sis
Bridget Burnam (pictured below) spoke eloquently about her love for
God, and His presence in her life. Her poem, short, and to the point, left the
mind open to receive the love of Christ. Her spirit shown brightly, as her
authentic personality and willingness to share, left all encouraged and digging
deep into their relationship with God.

Prairie View
A & M Senior, Janelle Watts
(Pictured below on left), dropped major insight into life, with her vivid
imagination, illustrations, and verbal explanations. Her piece, entitled “The
Natural” was
filled
with simple words. However, these well-placed words, with timely
adjectives, allowed the listener to close their eyes, and have a perfect picture
of what she was portraying.
Her cunning and creative use of words, provided a third dimension to the flat words, and left them standing boldly in the face of the listener, challenging them to elevate their thinking and poetic standard to a new level.

After some brief fellowship, “The Saint” took to the mic., and praised God through a unique blend of urban beats and smooth vocals, with were carefully applied to a Latin feel, with naked instruments, combining into sweet music. “The Saint,” of Real Deal Records, had songs so relaxing and sweet, that those present were bathed in the presence of God.
There was no mistake, that he loved the Lord, as he smiled with each word, knowing the pain and relationship that they were a result of. His song, "So Much", invited all present to affirm the presence of God in their life, by reminding God that we truly need him in our life. This worship song was smooth and mellow, and seemed to capture and express the desires of his heart, and his love for God. “The Saint” poured his entire being and soul into praising the Lord, and the smile on his face revealed that he truly loves to praise the Lord.
